Need a Computer Microphone? FREE?!

Haha. This isn't a spam post if that's what the title makes it seem so.
This is a nifty little trick I discovered.

Ever go on a voice chat and wish that a special person or friend could be on it, but he/she lacked the microphone to do so?

Well, there's an easy way, and it requires headphones.

"CCIBALLER52...ARE YOU CRAZY?!"
No I am not. I said headphones. And no, I don't give a care if you have speakers, because this next trick doesn't need them (for the talking part that is).

Alright, first thing you do is pick the pair of the nicest headphones you own (every self respecting human has a pair of headphones).

Take the headphones and put them in the pink hole. (No you pervs. The microphone jack that happens to be pink on most PCs and some Macs).

Then use whatever messenger or program you use to talk or to record, and voala. You have a microphone!

INSTRUCTIONS TO USING YOUR NEW MICROPHONE:
Take the headphones which are now plugged into the back of your comp, and talk into the right earpiece/bud. If the person ont he other end doesn't hear you, try the left bud/earpiece.

It won't work with certain types. I depends on the driver, coils, and it's impedance.
So you will have to mix and match for best results.

As for putting a mic into a speaker jack like someone here said, it will ruin your mic very easily.

I use 15 dollar DJ sized head phones and these weird small iPodish Phillips headphones.

i will try this. i have those philips headphones that look ipodish! so umm, how do you hear people, through the speakers, or through the headphones?

I personally use my DJ headphones to talk, and the ipodish philips to listen. It's to prevent the parents from hearing my convos

But yeah, the headphones are the mic. Use your speakers.

i just used my iphone headphones which have the built in little microphone and it worked. go iphone!

What most people do when reading my thread is go against it and refuse to put the headphones in the microphone jack. They end up putting it in the headphone jack and talk.

Make sure to plug the headphones IN THE PINK HOLE BEHIND THE TOWER.
Pink hole, make sure the plug this is all the way in the hole. Talk into both headphone buds. Should work.

If it doesn't after you double check, what headphones you using?
