So I spent last night in the hospital. Somehow managed to pinch a nerve in my spine reaching to get something out of a cabinet. Sharp pain shot right through my spine, then my entire body went numb for 15 seconds, kind of like hitting a funny bone but all over. That faded, but every muscle on my back and sides completely locked up. I could move my legs/arms/neck fine, but if I tried to sit up or roll over it just tensed up even more and I couldn't breathe.
Xrays didn't show anything and nobody gave me a good explanation of what would have caused it, but they gave me diazepam and some pain killer injection. Not sure what pain killer, it was an injection in my leg and to be honest all it did was make my leg cramp up. But the diazepam worked and today it just feels like a really bad cramp but I can actually move around.
I will say that laying flat on the floor and physically not being able to get up is the worst feeling.

Be careful till you are fully healed, my wife did something similar to that and she ended up having to get a disc replaced in her lower back. NOT a fun thing and she still isn't 100% after 2 years.

My back is one of the few things, if not the only thing I've never really injured before. And my first thoughts were "God I hope I don't need surgery."
I doubt back surgery is very common at age 22, but then again meniscus repair at age 11 doesn't happen very often either. But I should be fine, just feels really tight and sore today. Need to get some Shaq strength icy hot.
