since I found this site I have been researching the hell out of the black dragun, and now my new choice, the impulse.
I want to know exactly what i´m getting into when I plunk down my cash.
|
I agree with this. I mean, yea to people who have $1200 markers and to them it's no big deal about that amount of cash, who cares what someone thinks, if they don't like it they'll get a new one. But I'm in college, when 700 bucks gets saved up I want it to go into the right place.
I've done alot of research into guns I'm intrested in. I started out thinking I was gonna get a used cocker then I looked around and said why don't I get a new one. I went and looked at a black magic, didn't like it. Then I saw a used bko impulse while I was there and I was like this is light as hell and was intereted. So I did research in impulses, I finally found the rat impulse, liked it, talked to the guys that worked at epbo and figured out what I thought I liked. As I kept doing more research, the matrix started to appear in alot of imp threads saying that it was better than the imp. These are people who own imps and saying they'd rather have a matrix? Now I'm concerned and I've done all this research and am going to make the wrong descion, so I did research on the matrix and now I just dont' know. And herein lies the problem. So I decided to post in the electro froum (so I don't get a biased answer and hopefully hear both sides of the story) and then I see this thread stickied above mine and I'm like damn, so I read the whole thread and fixed up my original "rat impulse or base matrix" thread as to not offend anyone.
But the story I just told you is an example of what could be behind people's questions when they ask this gun or that gun, you can't immediately say, anyone that asks this question is a ****ing idiot and doesn't know anything because they didn't do any research. Mabye it's just because they aren't sure and are just looking for the opinions of players that currently using those markers or have shot those markers. I mean, I dont have access to a Matrix, so I can't feel it out to begin with. All the local stores around me don't carry them. So I'm forced to ask opinions.
So I guess my point is through out this post is don't immediately hate those people that ask this gun or that, they all aren't idiots and they all haven't done research. If think you need more information on a guy (ie his style of play) to give him an opinion then ask for it and then if he says something stupid and he obviously has not done any hw, then yell at him. But don't descriminate.

I could not have agreed more with the post above mine. That is what the forum is for, to ask questions. Otherwise it would be just a regular site with information.
I think that many of the "seasoned" PB Reviewers need to relax and lend a hand to the newbies. This is sport is growing, and if we want it to continue to grow, we need to help all that need help. If every time a noobie asks a questions and he/she get shot down as idiots, then what image are we making our beloved sport.
IMO, if you are toooo tired of the question which is better, then don't read it, just ignore it, but for Gód's sake don't't flame the person asking the question. By the same token, I often guide the person and tell them to look for the questions previously posted, that they might find their answer there. And often I get a thank you from them since they didn't know they could do that.
So in short, just be patient, we were/are noobies too.

Ummm this is a though desicion!!
I would goo with a matrix (in my opinion the shocktech Matrix) or Shocktech bushy both are fast and acurate and both are reliable too!! but are a little expensive but worth every penny
Info of these guns:
Shocktech Bushmaster
• 3D Machined, Lightest Available Electronic Marker
• Cocker Threads
• 66.6 bps Board
• Semi Auto Only (Tournament Legal)
• LCD Function: Shot Counter, Game Timer
• Eye System
• Eye Override Switch
• Custom Tray/ASA
• Supa Fly Bolt
• Rat Valve
• Sticky Grips ( and more this is many of features)
MSRP: $849.00
Shocktech Matrix
• Includes Regulator
• LCD Chip (MSRP: $1150) If you think is very expensive to a matrix should get the Air tech E-Matrix:
Operating Pressure is 140 psi.
Color: Black
Stock barrel is Custom Products 14 inch.
The Guns we have now come with the Limited Edition Pewter "Trophy" Grips.
CONSTRUCTION FEATURES:
Electronic Triggered, with multi-mode dipswitch adjustment.
Fully Pneumatic operation. (No hammer, no sear, no main spring)
Performance Centerfeed.
Interchangeable forebreech: Standard forebreech
AutoCocker threads. Optional Forebreech
Angel, Shocker, BushMaster, Spyder, Mod98, etc.
Double trigger with Custom MATRIX rubber grips.
Uses one common 12V battery, available anywhere. No recharger needed.
ACCURACY FEATURES:
LOW Pressure operation for phenomenal accuracy and performance, enabling use of highest performance brittle-shelled paints.
Dual ball-detent for maximum ball-centering accuracy.
Fires during closed-mode of bolt's travel for superior accuracy.
(Statistically, the most accurate marker ever made in the History of Paintball).
Price on paintballgear.com $639.99
Or if you don't like the electros go with a cocker specially shocktech are reliable and famous.(SFL is the best)
If you don't like this guns I can't do much for you then.
In Puerto Rico I always said It doesn't really matter what your gear looks like if it doesn't perform, because nobody take pictures of losers!!

Did we even read the whole thread?

I can understand someone sitting down and saying
"here's what I know about XXX and YYY based on what i've researched, I've considered this, and this and this, and I have some idea of what I want....the last thing I need is owner testimoney and reccomendations on based on THIS style of play I like, and THESE qualities."
What I'm sick of is "I have $1000, should I get a high end cocker or Angel".
There's no background information on what the user wants from a gun, what he plays, how he plays, why he narrowed it down to two markers, if he's open to other suggestions, what equipment he currently has, if he wants to upgrade or buy stock....and so on and he wants us to pick how to spend $1000 of his money.
Even WORSE is the person who says "Do my shopping for me...pick out what I want and WHERE I can get it cheapest" I can MAYBE see "Where's the best place to buy a 2002 Vert feed stock cocker" but I cannot see "I want this and this and this and this and this and this mask....what combination of 2000 pball sites with shipping factored in will save me the most?" It's a nighmare when I order my own gear because I do that for myself, to ask someone else to do it is ludicris.
Even worse STILL is the person that somehow has the gall to do BOTH!
THOSE are the I'm writing this for.

In other words, good for you if you did research and looked at your options and threads that had already been made about your question, we've got no problem helping you now that you give us a bit of info and we have some semblance of an idea of what you want. But having a thread saying "I have $2200, what should I get?".....that pisses me off. Not only are you taking up space on a page where a more useful thread could be posted, not only are you using bandwidth, but these things happen regardless of whether or not I..or someone else replies, you've made no effort to help us help you, and occasionally, I'll run into someone who we've actually bothered with that does this sort of thing that says "OK...now tell me where to find all this stuff cheap."
Like I said, you've got internet access apparently, you can go shopping and punch in "paintball gear" on a search engine just like we can.

You guys do realize that, although a lot of those posts are from unresearched newbies, some of them do come from researched players. However, you can read all the damn specs on a gun that there are, but you don't know how it shoots, or anything that pertains to actually SHOOTING the gun. What good does my reading that any random gun can shoot 14 bps, if I can't hear it from an actual user?
Also, w/o some of these posts, you wouldn't have full knowledge of ALL the guns available. My friend (he's on here, but I don't know his s/n) intended on buying a shocker, until he posted and heard of the Nasty Impulse. After checking in 10 or so stores, I can verify that I could only find 1 store that even mentions a Nasty Impulse.
You guys are basically right. Most of those "vs." posts are just inexperienced newbies. However, they ALL aren't. And I'm sure most of us here have, at any given time, made a similar post.
