Hummmmm.... [n00b]
Well, I'm finally to the stage of getting an autococker, and was wondering if you guys would like to spill your guts for me on this little problem I'm having. The stock 03' VF cocker costs about $350. If I want, I could move up to the ANS GX3 cocker for about $390. Is it worth the extra 40 bucks? The front pneumatics seem to cost more than that, which is one of the few advantages I see to the GX3 (nice ano/powder coat options). One thing that I see as a disadvantage is the lack of a hinge frame (or is it?). Should this justify me not getting a better deal? Couldn't I just throw on a hinge frame if I really don't like it? Hummmm.....

I'd probably get the WGP, but sliders aren't that bad to answer your second question. I prefer them actually.

I worked on one once. Didn't like it even when I had it timed perfectly. It seemed choppy for lack of a better word. As did a shocktech cocker. So far, my favorite cockers have been WGP cockers and PPS cockers.

I've had no problems with mine... and it looks hella better than a 03 vf, and comes with a better stock HPR and front pneus.
So why do people bash them. Are they not made of real autococker bodies?

I have had a lot of experience with gen-x cockers, and i have mixed emotions. Overall, i don't think they are very high quality. Some have had serious problems, and others have had off and on problems, while others worked like a charm and better. I would recommend going with the WGP cocker, cause i can't be sure ans will hold up, while WGP cockers have a better quality to them.

Tech Support?
Has anybody had problems dealing with ANS directly w/ these cockers? Would they replace/repair if said problems occur? I seem to be in love with them now and the bodies look very nice. Seeing that I don't have much in the way of money, I can't get a nicer looking (or better working) wgp cocker than the stock.

i know its not much of a reason but i just think the ANS ones look cooler. also they come with a decent inline reg and good LP reg. they lack a barrel but the stock WGP one isnt anything to celebrate about anyways.

Bingo. Also, ANS cockers are technically not real cockers Penguin.

I think my main problem is that I don't want to upgrade this gun too much. Maybe a new bolt, or a new hinge frame, but nothing else which is why I'm heading in the direction of the ANS. Seeing that this would be my first gun (hence, n00b) and I doubt I would be playing in tourney conditons (woodsball mostly up here in the NW). I do want to go the way of a cocker, but spending 40 bucks less for a gun which I would probabily upgrade the pnumatics to (costing 120ish) kinda confuses me. As long as it won't fall apart in my hands, and I can tinker around with it, I'll be happy. ???

I would get the ANS, who cares if its a "real cocker" it shoots smooth and is good. If you're gonna be playing tournaments definatly get the ANS. If you're gonna be in the woods still get the ANS and just get a hinge.
BUT if youre about the camo get the VF its still a good gun just not as good as the ANS.
My gun>VF
My gun>ANS
ANS>VF
My gun>your gun (why because its mine and i shoot it.)
Me>you

You could even go for a 2k2 vert, they are dirt cheap and even come with hinges free some times. Around $280 some places. Then spend the extra $110 and get a nice set of pneus. Then you have best of both worlds. And if you want a hot body, just get it milled, the 2k2s have lots of extra Al on them
2k2 with new pneu's + hinge > ANS in my opinion
although ANS > stock 2k3
my cocker > both those but probably not an e-orracle

I'd rather not get it remilled, plus, then I'd also have to get it anoed bringing up the cost even more. A set of ANS pnus costs about 100 bucks, so already it costs about the same. With ano and milling, it's going to cost much more than a GX3. I'm still trying to decide tho...

I don't have lots of $$$, and since this is my first gun, I've also got to get a mask, hopper and other stuff. It kinda sucks, but hey, waddayagunnado?

Well, don't those all have sliders(the shocktech and Ans)?
The WGP have the hinge frames
