In process of building new field , need input

Trying to develope large scale PB field need imput from PLAYERS
Ok guys , i need YOUR help.

I've been playing pball for 6 years and spent the past 2-3 in extensive research , getting contracts and business stuff setup and i decided i'm gonna take the plunge in building a really large pb field, i'm hopin to have the largest in my state. I need your help on what kind of fields and stuff i should do , my goal is to provide a good enviorment for all players , tourney players , woods , scnario players alike. I have almost sealed the deal on 92 acres of property. I got several streams through it , 22 acres of open field, 5 acres of decent grassland ,rest is woods. I also have a large creek running through some of my property , i believe it Ys off and makes a island then comes back together so i think we might be able to have storm the island type battles.

Here's the fields i'm planning on starting out with and i need sugguestions on what else i could do , i got alot of room for stuff so.

These are fields we're having on opening day.

1. A NPPL style 7man supair field w/ all the goodies , fully netted as well.

2. A medium sized bunkerball field in a valley , this consists of low to no underbrush created by the valley , small trees are in this ,the valley is a 6ft drop which comes back up to normal height after about 300 feet, in the middle will be a small field made primarily of wooden bunkers all made out of trees , not pallets or artificial material.

3. We have a 10ft hill on our property , it will be used for a " storm the fort game " where in the middle of the field is a large 1-2 story fort made out of look-alike brick construction , the goal will be to gain posession of the fort and beat back the opposing team.

4. A natural sniperball field , this will consist of a medium sized field which will have medium underbrush , players will be able to hide behind large trees and such as well as fallen down trees and wood piles.

5. A vietnam flashback field, i'm gonna try and get my dad who was in 'nam to help me build a grass hut village in the woods to re-create a vietnam style expirance , field would be about about the size of football field with paths , grass huts and such.

6. A urban combat zone which will have quite a bit of houses , several sniper towers which would be 2 stories and a wrecked bu in the middle w/ possibly a flag for " hostage " situations.

fields 1-4 we'll have off the bat , 5-6 might get done before grand opening , the following fields most likely won't be in place upon opening but will come within a year.

7. a 10man NPPL style hyperball field.

8.A rolling hills mound style speedball field , i wana go for sort of a mock golf course , but the only golf carts that'll be in place on this field are ones that are made up to be like TANKS

9. a Large spool field

What you think of the fields ? To try and prove ourselves soon when we start we're gonna have extremely affordable pricing , only $10 entry , $45 per case of paint ( yes , it will be a FPO field)

Let me know any sugguestions

Well, it seems like an expensive endeavor. You need to evaluate your market. Do you have any major metropolitan areas near you? How large is your player base? What kind of people live in your area (white collar middle class and up are preferable)? Is your field in a location that can easily be found (by or near a major traffic area)? How much are you willing to spend on advertising? Are you going to have a paid staff with multiple referees per field? Can you afford the setup, and if you take out loans, how long will it take to repay them (hope for the best, plan for the worst).

Also, be SURE to make your airball and hyperball fields right by the parking lot/staging area. Although rental groups and scenario guiys make bring in money, many of them will come 5-10 times a year and taht's all, but your tournamnet players will keep coming back and buying more paint and recommending your field to more people if they like it.

We have a 1m population city a 25min drive from us , and theres quite a bit of white color/high income families there. We're on a state route so finding us isn't gonna be hard at all. We've got the advertizing expenses and such all planned and figured out , we got 10-20 years to pay off the loan. Most of the staff will be voluneteers w/ benefits, but we're gonna have a tip jar for groups so they can get some money.

the nam field sounds cool, so does the island. with those prices people are stupid if they don't come. challenge park is 18 to get in and like 80 for a case of brass eagle paint.

my god, i wish i lived in ohio, i wanna go play! those are some awesome field prices and it sounds like you have a great field set up...

take everyone else's advice and try your hardest not to get greedy like SC village... its like friggen 25 bucks for rec ball...

hey! i just relized something, speedball should be cheaper than rec... like at sc... speedball 10(all day) and rec is like 25....

make sure your c02 and hpa fill prices are utterly reasonable (like pro shop prices) and your paint prices sounds awesome... make sure to carry some of the higher end paint, since some players will only shoot "X" type of paint.... ask players what type of paint they would like you to get in, and if you have enough players wanting it, get the paint in and keep it at a low price...

GOOD LUCK MAN!!! hopefully, mabye... one day i'll stop bye... hey! mabye a giant band wagon of paintballers travaling the states visitng all the paintball fields... that'd be awesome...

fields sound awesome! especially the urban combat , a field near me has a lil mock town and its so fun to play.. just make sure you dont make the sides real uneven.. but you have awesome field ideas, and seem to have everything thought through. i wish you the best, and remember that players just want to have a good time.

I'm throwing back and forth the idea of air charges , they're gonna be extremely reasonable. Right now we're doin $1 for 9oz , $1.50 for 12-16oz , and $2 for 20oz. I've been thinking of doing a air card for like $25 that entitles you to like...... 30 fills of any size tank for you.

Also forgot to mention.......i'm buying several thousand sandbags for the fort to make it more like real life with sandbag bunkers and trenches to look like the fort has been under seige for a while , i've been thinking that sandbag trenches or even sandbag tunnels would be cool w/ alternate points of entry.

As for other paint.....

$50 for midnight
$55 for blaze/team colors
$60 for inferno
$65-70 for hellfire

Another thing i forgot to mention is i believe we're gonna have a webcast radio system in place so you can storm the fort to music of any hard rock , metal or punk of your choice.

We were talkin bout the island games today , we were wanting to see if we can set up a fort in the island and have rope bridges connecting the 2 sides.

We also decided to put the 'nam field on a old car trail , so it looks like its more like a real town , we even talked about a gaurd station w/ like the little gates.

Dude thats awesome I'm from Springfield, Ohio but I am in the Navy and am stationed at NAS Keflavik, Iceland. So you are going to go in direct competition with Splatter? they are a very good field. I got like a year and half over here before I come back. Where exactly is the field and also what kindda air refills will you be able to offer? What kind of rental gear are you looking at offering? Hours of Operation?

try and keep the grass on your speedball fields alive.

Make a trenches field, they're loads of fun.

Make it $15 entry and all day air.

if your field is going to be that large you might want to have Huts spaced out that players can go in and rest with their masks off and not worry about paintballs flying in.

Concession is also a very nice thing to have along with running water. Also try and set aside a small little hut that is dry and has clean tables that can be used for gun maintenance and supply tools that are chained up(to prevent people stealing)

Also keeping a supply of extra masks, hoppers and non-syphoned tanks. Many players out there only have a gun or do not have one of those others.

you might want to have batteries there to sell to people.

For advertising go to high-schools,middle schools and colleges and universities and advertise your field there

maybe a set of 10-20 lockers that can be rented for $1 to people who feel the need to lock their possessions up.

if I can come up with any other ideas ill make sure to post them

Loki - Should everything pan out, we will be about 15-20 minutes from Columbus Ohio (to the south of it)

Rentals will be M-98 Customs. We are going to produce our own line of custom M98s that are powdercoated, and have upgrades on em..Might rent a few (military setups, real sweet). Air fills will be $1-2 for Co2/HPA, and $5 ADA. Rentals will be about $20 (with entry), and include 100 paintballs.

Hours will be like Mon-Thurs (call, if we actually get regulars to come on these days, we'll gladly have set times)
Proshop would be like 11am-6pm Mon-Thurs, open Fri-Sat whenever field is, and at 11am on Fridays.

Friday : 3-10PM (or dusk, depending if peeps wanna play at night)

Saturday : 10am-10pm (maybe earlier?)

Sunday : Not open, might open for paint/air sales to groups if needed, but I have church in alot, so that comes first, but I could squeeze in maybe 1-2hrs for the proshop.

We would hold night games every month for $5 entry, and deals on glow-in-the-dark Richchets and paint...It'd last from dusk till dawn on Saturday nights.

Pea - Actually, it'll be $15 w/ ADA, but we are going to offer $10 for those that don't expect to fill thier tank to need the ADA (strangley enough, the people we've dealt with ADA, they never get their $$ worth out of it, so I'm not going to offer ripoffs on ADA)

The hut idea has already been covered. We plan on being the only facility to give back to the paintballers. We plan on creating a players lounge unrivaled by any other field in the USA. It would feature video games, furnature, food, extra TVs with various PB tapes highlighting either tourneys or how-to vids on how to improve your game, no ad crap, just balling. Not to mention all the tables anyone would need.

We're probally gonna have lockers eventually, alot of schools are closing near us, and we can easily buy them for a dime a dozen.

Wow, if you go through with this it would be awesome! 1million people is a hella lot. Your field designs sound great too, I wish you the best of luck and remember if you become big don't become dicks like SC village and start charching $25 a day. Keep it real and you'll be jammed pack.

Every single time i go past it i'm amazed , we got a ton of civil war-esque fields. The brush amazing , theres hardly any of it , and when there is its very controled and diverse , i can't wait to get some better pics.

Field sounds unreal. The prices are low, and the feilds themselfs sound kick arse. Good luck.

BTW are you going to link a bunch of feilds together into one massive senario game every once in a while?
