How many agree with me that this is the best movie in the last 10 years, maybe more?

No....not even close...

Do you know how many REALLY good films have come out in the past ten years? Hell just look at some of the indie or forign films. Its a great movie and its really a matter of taste, but overall there have been some HUGE forign and indie films that are much rawer and graphicly depictive with much more subtle over and under tones and deal with issues and resolve them in a manner much cleaner and poient then city of god. Now granted COG was meant to be somewhat unclean and unfinished with its overall tone, it was going for the whole "Life is uncertain and unfinished" tones. It comes close to doing a good job but many other films do a much better job of it.

I've seen indie films, maybe not as much as you. Can you name a few which you thought were better?

all a matter of taste...

With out a doubt, "Jules and Jim" is one of the finest films I have ever seen...heck it ranks as one of the best films of all time. Its older (62) but is a film worth seeing.

Honestly the best list to date is from imdb...

Now many of those are older but take a look and you can see some of the great indies.

If you want to really see the "deep" and "meaningful" films look into some foreign films....french, Spanish, and Italian more specifically. They have brought some of the huge indie bombshells (in a good way) to be.

That's what I thought...but Deus is Latin...

and if you want to get technical, it's Ciudad de Dios, being that it is about a Latin American country

i love the movie. dunno if i would say the best in the past 10 years because i dont watch too many movies.. but its deffenitly up there on the best list
