I am really sorry for the wide pictures, this is the first time I have tried to re-size pictures for PBR.
Edit* About once a month. My mom doesnt want to go very often, so it wouldnt be fair to her to go every weekend, plus I like sleeping in and just hanging out.

A n00b you are. There is nothing 'ice' in there. That is calcite....or aragonite, I forgot which. That is dissolved by water and then left behind to form the differant formations. That cave is allways 54* so no ice.

Is that stuff strong? Or would it break off if, say, your shirt caught on it while you were walking.

They are somewhat strong, but if you get your shirt caught on one, it would break. There is a trail laid out inthe middle of the passage that keeps you a few feet away from them. I am not sure how long it take them to grow, some people will tell you millions of years, but it is along time.

yeah, i watched some documentary on a cave in florida or some southern state with an underground lake that had caves with tons of these formations were abound. they explained as well, the rarity of the formations and also stated that it may have took millions of years to form.
underground lake + cave > normal cave though.
the pics were entertaining nevertheless. thanks.

From a person that has never been caving, I find that amusing.
Lakes may make it funner to look at, but in truth, water underground is a big pain. If it must be dived, cave diving is the most dangerous sport in the world. If it is a cold cave, hypothermia. So you must carry wet suits, or dry suits. And if it is moving, you must do tons of rigging to stay out of it when ever possible.
I think Jaster has been cave diving a couple times, but I am not sure about that.
If it doesnt just set there, then it is dangerous. That cave didnt have Helectites...so my cave > your TV cave.
Edit* In case people were wondering, there were 6 people in our group: JasonA, Banderson, our brother, my Dad and Mom, and the girl from work.

Very nice I'm sorta claustraphobic, but I've been to Mamoth (sp?) cave in Kentucky. Pretty cool, but you walk the whole way through. Those formations are quite cool.

Get program that lets you resize by %. Then all you have to do is reduce an image's vertical and horizontal size equally to keep it in proportion.

I have heard Mammoth is a great cave, 300 miles of nothing but walking.
Reneir, I already took them down by 50% and took the size down from 3MB to 50KB. I guess if no one minds I will just leave those the way they are, and make them smaller next time. I really didnt want to upload them again, due to the 24K and all.

Everlite,
Thank you for your help, but I have already said.....twice, that I resized them by 50%. Last time I put a picture on here I didnt have to resize it at all, so I thought 50% would be more than enough. Take a look at post #3 and #13. I think that my camera must make them differant sizes when you change the quality.
So again, I know how to make them smaller, I just dont want to because I would have to upload them again.

Yet again I am awed by Whisperex's great knowledge of the force....er, I mean teh intra web.
I have never used Imageshack, I might use it next time, or be sure and have the right size before I spend allot of time uploading them.
