Cheap Paint VS. Expensive Paint

I want to know if any one else has had this problem before. When I play paintball I usually look for paint around the $30 range. While I am playing I have noticed that I hit people and the balls do not break! And the accuracy is crap! The balls would curve around the people I was trying to hit! And the color was watered down so much I could not even tell what color it was!

This becomes extremely irritating and is a constent problem. The next time I went out I spent $60 on a case of paint and I was hitting people left and right; the balls were flying straight as an arrow. The paint was breaking on every part of the body and the fill was bright. What is your thoughts on my subject of cheap paint VS. Expensive paint?

u get wat u pay for, i guess.

there is sum paint out there that is cheap, but has decent performance. for example: origin classic, scorch, and dusk to name a few. u can get decent paint for not a lot of money.

yea, generally, the cheaper the paint the less likely it is to be well done. like you were talking about, i have some cheap paint(monsterballs) that do the exact same thing. they dont break, they are very dimpled, and sometimes the color sucks, but its usually a very strong bright yellow.basically for testing purposes only.

I think Scorch is one of the best deals out there, pretty cheap but good quality.

What you're seeing is the main difference on why paint costs $30 vs $60. And that's consistency. $30 is produced cheaper and with less consistency. The shells are thicker (and sometimes are more uneven) and more prone to bouncing. They also tend to dimple easier and the fills are inconsistent and lead to hooking and curving. More expensive paint tends to be extremely thin shelled but very consistent ball for ball with little differentiation between balls. The fills tend to be thick as well.

In the middle grades you have a thicker shelled paint that's reasonably consistent with a mid grade fill that's usually quite thick. For my money, X-Ball Bronze and Silver are quite good for the price.

^yeah blaze is perty good. I like the X-ball series myself, that and evil. But honestly you realy do get what you pay for. so beware if you find a killer deal on paint (ie a $60 case on sale for $40) beware b/c you will more than likely get lower performance out of it. Ive been burned by sales too many times to fall for it anymore.

I buy differant paint every time (well not everytime but..) So far the best I have used are around 55-60 paint. PMI permiums and marberlizers are relly got IMO but some times when money is low I buy some tac. porformance from acedmey sports for 25 bucks I like them, there accurate to about 70% but they hrdly ever bust on my oppenite which is fine cause they say there hit (cause I play with 10-12 yo noobs) really what ever paint "canks your engine" is fine.

the way I look at is: buy what you can afford. If you can buy paint for 30 bucks and it works for you then stay with it, if not buy something else. Keep looking till you find a paint that your happy with. The field I play at doesn't give me a choice, so I'm stuck but so is eveyone else.

I hate wasting $60 on somethin that I am going to blow out the end of my barrel! I found Nelson Hemorrhage is good paint for the price its about $35, that is what I usually buy. My brother will only use the DXS Gold and he has nver broken a ball or anything and he hits people across the field.

In addition...paintball shells halves two halves. There is a seam where they are joined. More expensive paintballs have no noticeable seam while less expensive paint does. The seam will catch air and cause the ball the spin off course.

it All depends on were im playing. If im playing at a Speedball field, i usually use PMI Premium, but if its just rec ball at a local field or w/ feiends, I usually use Stinger.

P.S.
Stinger is very consistant paint, its only 30$ a case, and it always shoots straight and has a nice fill.

The difference between just $30 and $45 is huge. Almost every $30 paint is junk, while many $40-45 paints are the best or nearly the best in the industry.

I keep telling my buddies to not skimp on paint, but yet they still do. They even complain about the paint but don't make an effort to get better stuff.
