Question Painting M98 -- Lets get cookin

I have a quick question. Ok, first let me say that I like to buy cheap model 98s, screw around with them, then sell them again. Well one of the things I like to do is paint them.

I usually buy automotive spray paint from Advanced Auto Parts for like 5 bucks a can, and I use automotive clear coat as well from the same store. When I paint I usually do 2 coats of primer (if the original paint is too screwed up to be used as primer or if i am using light colors), followed by 4 coats of colored paint, and then 3-4 coats of clear coat. This proviedes a fairly sturdy paintjob.

However, I have heard that if you "bake" the gun body after painting it will harden it like a rock. I was wondering if anyone knew if this is true, why it would be true, and the proper procedure for doing this cooking (ie, temperature, length of time, what you place the body on). Thanks a lot for your help in advance.

wouldnt a string burn?

ok, here is what i think you do

suspend the gun somehow...prolly wire would work better, then bake it for about an hour at 150*

this is what im pretty sure you are supposed to do, but some confirmation would be nice
