Why spyders hold their own...
closed bolt more accurate...false.....paint to barrel match determines accuracy.
the closed bolt test has been done and they are no more accurate than an open bolt (warpig....and before anyone says anything about the markers that were used to test....it was completely valid. Using the same marker with the exception of the bolt will remove any variables between the comparisons other than the bolt.
distance....280fps is 280fps (with exception to the flatline barrel) nough said.
Consistancy....a factor influenced by the regulation system of the marker.
Reliability....like with any marker, take care of it and it takes care of you. New anti-chop bolt has been tested and proven.
Upgradability.... Spyders do not have a lack of upgradability in parts that exist in spyder markers.
ROF...Spyders are more than capable of achieving a rate of fire That no one would be able to achieve in semi-auto. Right out of the box, the spyder can cycle faster then even near possible, as it cycles around 40 cps. NOTE: these are cycles, not balls per second. The spyder has never been tested to shoot a ball at 40 bps since there has not been any loader to feed that fast. Spyders come out ahead on this area, as we see.
recoil.... The disruptive force of jerking a trigger at a high ROF are greater than any differences in recoil.....in REAL WORLD conditions (semi-auto, in ones hands). Most likely an average tight grip on the marker will allieviate this issue. Again, if anyone can come up with a definite test that shows marker recoil (which is nominal at best) affects accuracy in REAL WORLD CONDITIONS...I would love to see them. By the way, what ridiculously low recoil there is has been reduced CONSIDERABLY by the new Ti hammer.
Efficiency: you can get well over 2000 shots with a 68/4.5k tank.
Maintenance: Alright so with a spyder, you just pull out the bolt and striker, wipe it off, oil it, and plug it back in. Simple enough.
Looks: Alright let's face it. There really isn't too much of a competition here unless you want to go buy a body, mill it and anno it.. Chances are it still won't look as good as a nice FF.
Upgradeability: you can build a completely aftermarket spyder.
Price: the high-end guns do tend to have a better feel, lighter weight and better cosmetics as well as being close to perfect right out of the box and awesome tech support and warranties. that's where the money is and that's what they're paying for. But the performance gap modded is gone now with the many innovations in spyder parts.
Finally people have to ask themselves...why do people think that you are dissing their marker when you point out the FACT that a spyder can hold their own against any other marker...modded or otherwise.? If a matrix owner told this to an angel owner...no big deal....now throw in a spyder and you've got a fight on your hands.
