Rain-X on lense
I just had this idea after hearing my dad say that it works great for the dust on glasses and such. And because of its original purpose, to make rain come off easier, I thought wouldnt it make paint wipe of easier? Because you always have that problem of haveing to wipe off the lense and you either have the oily residue left or water drops son your lenses. So I think ill use my old JT lense, clean it up a little, put some rain-x on it let it dry and shoot it a few times then see how it wipes off. I'll tell you all tomarrow of the results.

I shot the mask once, then squeezed two more balls onto the lens. The paint wiped right of with some water and even came completely off in the sink. It worked wonderfully.

The rain-X works great for filling in the scratches that previous washings may have done. It also cleans off some of the paint that was on there in the first place, the oily film left over. Its almost like a fresh new lense all over again! When I cleaned it off with the rag it took about 3-4 swipes and it was clean. Under the sink, I had just wached the paint pratically melt right off te lense. I also have the strange feeling someone has done this before and I just dont know it. Please tell me if I'm right.

The V-force lenses are different than the other thermal lenses, so it may not effect them as much, if at all.
RainX work great on the inside of a barrel btw.

I would shoot at it at 350 fps from 5 feet away 10-20 times... just to test the strength...
I would seriously not trust anything more than water on my mask

As I had said before I was going to wait a week with it just sitting here on my desk doing nothing. I will shoot it, however not from 5 feet, "Immediatley replace any lense that is hit within ten (10) feet or less even if you can't see damage." exerpt from the JT "goggle & lense care- lense replacement instructions manual. I'll just shoot from 11 to get the full effect. I didn't metion this before but I had applied it to both sides of the lense, and it was previously used. Just so you know it was a normal single JT lense that I applied it to. I don't think there is any diference in the chemichal structure of the normal to thermal lense, the only differense is the obvious 2 panel desighn. I could be wrong, but once I have done this to my normal lense and tested the duability, I'll do it to my thermals.

the lense instructions say to replace the lense if shot from under 20 feet beacuse of possible microscopic cracks.... (i don think 5 feet 350's gonna help)

All lens are tested to much past 300, I'm saying it should be able to take 5+ bunkerings from a hot gun, which a normal lens can take.
I still like my lens

Still, I like to think that I wont get bunkered too much, especially takeing 5+ shots from less than 5 feet away. I also like to think that people wont come around shooting at you when bunkering. But then again if everything were the way I like to think, it would be all too easy. So I may test it untill it breaks.
I have decided the test will go as:
Shooting the lense at or around 5 feet. I'll have to get my gun chronied first so I know its actually going about 300 fps, so I may not get to testing it untill next weekend.
Fulking golfers all they do is make work for me...

Yeah....
the weekend of the 23rd.
Unless I can get my hands on a chronie and an extra lens, its not happening this weekend. Good news is, if it has done anything to the strength ot the lens, it will be more noticeable...
But when I do get around to testing it, I get to shoot the cruddage out of it and then some other people after wards
Who's knows, if you can go to the Taneytown field in Maryland on the 23rd, you mighnt see someone shooting a lens on the ground.
Just so you know where it may be taking place,
http://www.paintballwholesalers.com
thats their site, directions to the field are in there, and so is plenty of other stuff.
Grrr, I hate my schedule for these weekends, friend just asked me to work, then a church holiday bazaar, then a church retreat, then my free weekend waiting for someone to fulk it up.

Testing tomarrow
Supposedly they are going to be perfectly harsh conditions.
come out and play, I'd like to be able to meet some of you people. I'll be the 16 year old tall skinny guy running around with a FlashLCD, JT Nvader mask and gloves, and a nice warm winter coat hanging around the main pavillion, or someplace warm, when not playing.

sunday it is
I'll be going on this sunday, 24th, mostlikely from 1-5pm
the wind today is not going to be fun to shoot around (16mph winds) not good for the ball. So as before, I'll be the 16 year old tall skinny guy running around with a FlashLCD, JT Nvader mask and gloves, a redz dimention pack, and a nice warm winter coat hanging around the main pavillion, or someplace warm, when not playing.

Except for the fact that by JT's standards you should replace a lense that is shot ONCE from that close (like you quoted earlier). So you never know, it could break the next time you get gogged, but then it could stay together. Personally I would have to go with what Blaze said and trust nothing but water on my mask.
