Well, after a number of years of modifying stock Autocockers and assembling others entirely from aftermarket parts, I got a hankering for a higher performance marker. I put the purchase off, and instead put together more 'Cockers, but with electroframes - first an E1 frame, which was rapidly followed by a Raceframe, and later an E2. I then upgraded the E1 with a ZeroB board.

Finally however, I broke down, and on Saturday at the British leg of the millenium series, I bought my first Angel.....

Yep, it's a Rasta.

Fresh out of the box - so fresh in fact, that one of the WDP guys had to drive to the factory for it, as they hadn't brought any Rastas with them. OK, the tournament was in Birmingham, but that's still great customer service.

After all the time I have spent on tweaking Autocockers, I'm probably going to leave this fairly stock (makes a nice change), with either a Conquest or Inline Max-Flo air system, a Reloader B, stainless back Freak kit (I have them for my Autocockers, so I just need to buy the back) and at a later date, the full Evolve kit. In two minds about switching out the stock reg for a CP reg adapter and a CP or MacDev regulator, but I'll probably give the stock reg a chance first.

Pictures of the Joy Division G7 that replaced the Rasta '05 Speed due to cosmetic flaws (and let's face facts, you buy a Rasta Angel for the cosmetics! )

Sadly, the G7 I received also has some flaws, including milling marks around the trigger guard

Oh well, I can't win.....

What all the best LCD screens are saying this year. Shame about the nasty grip panels, but hey, it's a JD, what do you expect?

Out of the box marker, with VLocity loader and Conquest air system regulator (need to get a new tank).

First addition, a Freak barrel.

Remember I said I couldn't win? Misaligned Freak insert.....

Coming tomorrow, a CP G7 reg adapter, which will hopefully be joined by an Evolve Pi or AKALMP 2-Liter Plus in due course, and I have ordered a Tadao FSB Master Tech board which is probably sat in customs at the moment. When that arrives I can think about replacing the grips panels with some '05 Speed ones.

25-Jan update
Another example of my lack of luck - the CP reg adapter arrived today. Gloss black rather than the dust I ordered, and scratched by the fixing screws which had burst out of their packaging.....

28-Jan update
STD Industries JDS Angel LPR on order. Wonder what will be wrong with that.....

Thumbs up

Finally took some pics of the entire set-up. Only thing that is missing is the SM-1 Orbium-3 Kit with the new threads. Until then, the new Red Mamba Sw!ffi Sw!tch Kit will have to do.

OK, just a brief update, as some people have expressed an interest in my Angel trials and tribulations..... Yes some people need a life as badly as I do!

Well, the frame is still covered in machine marks. Not on WDP's list of priorities to resolve that for me.

The reg adapter was replaced for me free of charge (other than the postage to return the one I had). Meh, could have been worse. At least the shop didn't blame it on the post and leave me in the lurch.

The STD LPR arrived, and yes, there was a potential problem with it. One of the holes drilled through the reg to carry the air flow has been drilled (to my mind) too close to the surface of the part, causing the surface to be pushed up in a ridge. STD checked and there are a number that are like this, but none have been returned so far, so hopefully not a problem. It is my intention to run a higher pressure through it than I would ever run the marker at (500psi I'm thinking) and see what happens. If the LPR stands up to that, I'll trust it.

Finally, another positive - I sorted out the Freak alignment issue. Yay for me! So altogether, I mixed bag of good and bad luck since my last post here. Oh, and the Tadao board is very, very nice. I wish it had an LCD screen and all the features that you have come to expect from an Angel board, but for pure, out and out performance

So to tide you over until I get my Angel tool kit and install the reg mount and LPR (I really must get on to that, I've been putting it off too long), a few more photos as it is now: -

Old VL2000 Shredder loader - that won't keep up.....

Mmm, PBR jersey as back drop!

Who would have thought that I would be double posting a month after my last post.....

OK, finally got around to ordering my G7 tool kit, and made short work of installing the Reg adapter.

Removing the LPR was rather more of a problem, as I could not find a suitably shaped tool to remove it, nor could I fabricate anything to do the job at the time (well it was 1am when I was doing this!) Bit more time consuming, but it actually worked out easiest to remove the battery from the marker and push the LPR out from the back, rather than to pull it out of the front of the marker. After that set back, the STD LPR installation was just as easy as the reg adapter. Only problem with the LPR so far has been that removing it chops an o-ring every time - I'll probably swap that one particular o-ring for a slightly harder one.

Nasty Leopard skin grips banished. '05 Speed grips in place.

I have also bought some A4 vernier trigger wheels so that I can experiment with having either just a front trigger magnet or a back magnet, by using one G7 wheel and one A4 wheel. Saves having to keep pulling the magnets out and replacing them when I want to make a change. So I should be able to choose between an E-Blade style trigger pull (front magnet), a Shocker pull (rear magnet), the G7 pull (both magnets), or just run the trigger straight off the Tadao boards micro-switch with no magnets at all. Should be able to find something I like!

So, nearly there.

I hope to mount a light pipe in the side of the grip just to see the LED on the board. The chrome CP reg was just for the purposes of these photos, and will be replaced with a black Pi or 2-Liter Plus reg. I'm also considering a Violent Products trigger, but they always seem to be out of stock.

Evolve should be releasing a Newton-Lite kit for the G7 soon, and that should be the last item to complete this marker.

I still have them, and currently have no intentions of selling them, just in case I decide to switch back, or sell the marker (in which case the next owner might want the original grips).
