I don't know if this has been said already. I have thought about using an old 20MM or 40MM surplus ammo canister to put my gear in. Those things are solid and can be locked up. I was checking the dimensions and they are 8" wide, about 18" long, and about 12-14" high. Thats enough room to put a marker or two, a tank, a hopper, and any tools you may need. I would pad the inside though (so you don't scrath your marker(s), tank, hopper, etc.)

EDIT: About the paint theft problem, buy a harness large enough to hold all of your paint, like an EVIL 6+5+2 or 5+4+2, or a large NXE harness. Then again, this would hurt someone who like to play up front or in the middle, lol.

This isn't really about having ur gun lost, it's about safeguarding it, generally from people who want to take it. I don't think a thief would be kind enough to tell you he stole ur gun.
thief: Hi, this is Bob. I stole your gun, and I live on 32 west crescent street, Alabama.
owner: Thanks, Ill call the police right away. . .

About the keyfinders. If there is a clapper type that might work better but I used to have one that would beep if you whistle. It went off at any high toned noise and eventually I got so ticked (went off almost constantly in the car) that I ripped it off and threw it out the window. Also in a normal conversation it would go off in my pocket. Unless its actually a clapper I'd not recommend getting that.

Rig up sort of like a tazer in the grip that only you know how to disable, THen set it up whenever you arent holding your gun. It would be fun to watch someone grab it.

Or just rig a bomb in your bag

ok im an old thief thats done his time and i can tell you locks onlykeep honest people honest. putting everything in your gear bag and locking it will only make it easier for the person to steal EVERYTHING instead of just your gun. and as far as trigger locks, they'll just remove them at home. getting to know the people at the field and the people you are playing with and asking them to watch your stuff is the only way it they are trusty. well aside from you watching it from afar or carrying it.

oh yea on a side note the custom painting thing works too. at oklahoma d-day 06 2 kids where arrested for steeling two custom painted masks. but custom painting only works if the person stealing it hangs around. most theifs will be grab and gos. meaning the thief will take the item or items right before they intend to leave. so if something does come up missing let the staff know right away.

possession is nine tenths the law. so make sure you can i.d. your equipment and use the notes in the hand grip or ingraved names or numbers in hidden spots. that way when you catch the guy with the hot pink marker he cannt just say it is his because you can i.d. it.

Put some sort of dangerous beast (like a ferret) in your bag that will bite anybody except you when the bag is opened.( bonus if it is a rabid ferret)

1) Carry your gun on a sling at all times.
2) Lock the rest of your gear in the trunk or in the cab.
3) Locks on your bag.
4) Engrave your name on the marker, barrel, and whatever. Keep records of serial numbers of EVERYTHING at your home on file. Keep photographs and close-ups of the serial numbers if possible.
5) Re-read the first 4 tips.

Good thread, good ideas. Good luck on keeping your stuff yours!
