Which patns should i spend $$$$$ on?
The dye 04 hybrid pants or the proto 05 pants?

Get the Proto, they're just as good as the Dye, but cheaper due to the fact you aren't paying for the Dye name.

Some guys at one of the fields around here have them and seem to like them a lot.

They're like the same pant, get whatever you can find cheaper. And no, they don't rip. The only pants I've seen rip were some JT pants, but I sabotaged them beforehand

The hybrids arent that great, C4 and C5 is good but expensive. Get the proto's.

Proto are super comfy and light. nice mesh lining for extra comfort.
PLUS THEY TO CROTCH PROTECTION which is a must 
no tearing either, great al around pants

I have got the 05 evil pants and they are freakin comfortable and padding is right where it needs to be and it has elastic for 2 pods on your butt if you don't want to carry a pack
my friend has the distortion and he loves them
