first off i asked in this forum before if i had to set the tanks reg to 200 higher than the inline and i think the answer was yes, i cant remember.
but i have an lp maxflo, should i buy an hp spring? but the bleed valve is at 240. what should i do?

The LP Max-Flo is really intended for LP use only - the design isn't quite the same as the medium to high pressure model. It is this model that has the two springs to adjust the pressure range.
Removing the pressure relief valve would allow you to adjust the pressure above 240psi (just seal the hole with a 1/8NPT blanking plug), but whether you can get up to 400psi to allow you a 200psi pressure differential between the air system and inline regulator, I can't say for sure.
Have you considered changing your regulator for a gas through grip, and running the Ion straight off the Max-Flo? I must admit, I prefer to always use an inline myself, so I know where you're coming from, but the Max-Flo is after all designed to be used on it's own, so it is always an option.

thank you for the intelligent answers.
before i go modifying my maxflo with blanking plugs i will borrow a friends gas through grip and try it out an d see how i like the performance.
does anyone know the ions stock regs psi ranges, like will it work on a spyder or a tippmann for example or is it to low pressure (so it doesn't go to waste if i keep the gas through)

Copied to Ion forum.
Can any of the Ion owners answer this question for Stan?
Many thanks.

It's rpessure range depends on how much pressure is put into it (tank output pressure). Generally it's around 50-psi or lower up to 250-psi...approx.
In answer to the original question (to elaborate on what he said) what you need to convert the LP Max-Flo to HP (or an HP to LP) is a new adjustment spring, new piston, and a new reg body to fit the new piston. It costs $55-65 from SP.

can that be avoided by buying a gas through or (in your opinion) the best choice?

Yep, you can always just do that. Running an LP Max-flo system through a gas-thru into the gun will work just fine. That's what I do with my Shocker.
Sometimes people will tell you "it's more work for the reg to regulate down from the tank pressure to 200-psi" and that you should double reg the gun...but it's not true. It's no more work for anything.
The only thing you don't want to do is use an LP max-flo system with the vertical reg.

whoa whoa whoa..... i have an ion with a max flo i got off my old impy and in it is a pure energy 68 3000 carbon fibre with a 850 psi output [ ]
so the air goes from the tank , into the LP max flo set at 200, and into the vert reg then into the and out the gun......is there a problem? i have not shot it yet since i just got it yesterday.
and its the stock vert reg BTW.
what my question is, will i get shootdown or the gun f'in up or what have you?

Two LP regs on there won't work very good in terms of flow. I would much suggest getting rid of one of them...either use a gas-thru or ditch the bottomline reg.
