Expansion Chambers. What are stages?

I was thinking about getting an expansion chamber for my marker and I started to see things like six stage and four stage expansion chambers. I was wondering if anybody could explain what the difference is and why I should get one or the other.

I haven't really ever thought about getting one because I've always had a marker with an expansion chamber.

Pictures would be very helpful.

The more "stages" it has the more time/space the co2 has to expand from liquid to gas. They only work for co2 so if you use Hpa then you don't need one.

Yeah I know they work only for co2. But thanks I was confused when I saw stages, i always thought an expansion chamber was just one little area where co2 would expand. I didn't know it could get more complex than that.

xchambers go anywhere from 2 stage or cell upto 18 stage/cell. A 2 cell is like what would come on the xchamber/gas thru foregrips on spyders and spyder clones. If your only option is currently to run Co2, then Id suggest trying to find a 8 stage/cell but if you cant find one a 6 will work good enough. A remote + xchamber really expands your co2 to a gas and even more so when its hot out which will drastically increase your shot count.
