there is no way I would give them any money. Its there recall for there mistake. Car dealers can not charge a customer anything for a recall.

As has been covered earlier in this thread, this is the fault of the people who made the bottles, *not* the people who assemble the air systems (Crossfire, MacDev etc. don't make the bottles, they buy them from other companies, and then attach the regulators that they do make, in order to make an air system).

The air system companies could easily have stated that this wasn't their problem and told you to take it up with the bottle manufacturers. Who to the best of my knowledge have folded, so you wouldn't get anything back from them. Instead, the air system companies are supplying new bottles at a fraction of what they would cost your to buy over the counter. They are subsidizing your purchase of a new bottle so that you get it as cheaply as possible, resolving an issue that should really have been fixed by the bottle manufacturer, not them.

Obviously, in a perfect world, GCI would have fixed this, and everyone would have got new bottles for free. As GCI are no longer trading to my knowledge, the air system companies have done the best they can for their customers, rather than leaving you stranded with a bottle you cannot fill. If they had done anymore, they could have risked going out of business themselves. They have done the best they can under the circumstances.

The point is the selling comp. is the one with the recall. For examp. Ford is recalling 1.3 million cars do to a bad light switch and they didn't make the switch. But Ford is on the hook for the no cost recall to the customer. Ford eats it.

Ford is a multi-billion dollar company. Companies like MacDev are not even close.

A light switch probably costs Ford a fraction of a cent. A bottle tank costs much, much more.

The alternative is of course, to refuse to pay the $40 for a better quality tank, and have an air system that you can't use.....

They shouldn't still be selling them, but that would assume that they all know about the recall, and that those who do know about the recall have acted on it.

Simple answer is to check what type of tank is on the air system before you buy it.

No, only tanks made by GCI (Global Composite Industries), no other bottles are effected.

It's been a couple years since I've played paintball, but I've recently gotten back into it. Got a new Bushmaster B2k and a Pure Energy 3000/72cu tank...I don't see any of those letters but maybe I'm missing it. Where should I look specifically? Or are Pure Energy tanks unaffected by this?

The 72/3000 has an aluminium tank. The recall involves fibre-wrapped tanks, so yours is not effected by this.

Think this needs an update. DOT says the matter is still ongoing without any change in status. All DOT E-12695 cylinders are still not useable.
We have not been able to find out how to contact GCI or ACI for Bulldog tanks covered under this advisory. Anyone have a contact number?

I may be wrong, but I believe that GCI ceased trading and filed for bankruptcy after this incident.

This product recall relates specifically to air systems assembled with GCI tanks - your air system has been assembled with a tank made by Luxfer, and so is not effected by this particular product recall. However, you will need to refer to the Luxfer recall notice: -

Anyone know who makes PMI tanks? I just got one off of ebay (hasn't been shipped yet), and I want to make sure there's not a problem with it before the seller ships it.

PMI air systems normally have Luxfer bottles (having said that, some Luxfer bottles have also been recalled). Get the seller to send you pictures of all the labels on the bottle, confirm who made it, avoid it if it is a GCI bottle, compare the details to those in the Luxfer recall thread if it is a Luxfer.
