Yeah, he said it hurt like a *****. The nets there were pretty high, so it had some speed when it was coming down. If it hit a centimeter higher, he'd have lost an eye.

... you test your marker with paintballs?
When cleaning my guns, I air test them to make sure all the leaks are gone. THEN, I hand feed paintballs through the feedneck. That way, I will always know if there is a paintball in my gun.
But, anyways. I do hope you get better and regain 100% visability in your eye.

Hopefully your vision returns when the blood clears up, I have had the expirience of being deprived of one eye before and it really shook me up; and made me think of what it would be like without an eye (I imagine it would suck).

Another thing to remember: Most markers (without a purge on/off system) will have one more shot of air trapped in the valve/macro. Be careful and purge the excess air from the marker by shooting.

Haha, thanks. I bet this injury makes me a "shoe-in" for 'sexiest newcomer for 2005'.

Genova: well, with what I was testing I was trying to shoot multiple shots while holding the gun solid, so hand loading shot would've kinda thrown things off a little...
Samrog: Yeah, I've seen that happen before where someone thought it was empty, so they pulled the trigger and shot air... luckily the hoppers were always empty or off when that has happened.
Tipp: yeah, I'm probably gonna be paranoid about wearing a mask now. I'll probably atleast wear safety goggles even when I'm off the playing field.
Sheps: yeah, it kinda sucks. But worse things can happen in life . Of course, it'd be better if this never happened...

It won't keep me off the field... I'm playing today. I'll just be a lot more careful.
I figure if someone shoots me, they'll have to feel bad for shooting a blind man. And if I shoot them, it's pretty demoralizing. So, either way, I win...

I know you don't need a safety lecture, so this message is going out to everyone else:
When your marker is aired up, have a barrel cover on. Remember, when in doubt, wear a condom
Also I hope you get better

Im the same way, like i heard a story at school of a guy at a strip club that got a thong flicked at him and it hit him in the eye and the next day he had crabs in his eye. That completely ruined my day.
Anyways that is a tragedy with the eye, but accidents do happen and although this accident may be unfortunate at least your PSA may do some good to all the people going around and playing without masks.

 Very thankful.

And just to let everyone know, I did play today. And I didn't do too bad with only one eye But more importantly, we all up'd our safety level 100%.
Also, I've decided to rename my gun to "Verra" (short for 'Verrat'; meaning 'betrayal' in German)
...and I vote for a sticky, too if that's legal to vote for my own...
EDIT: LOL, VL, nice one...

I think next time I go to my local field I'll print out your picture and have them hang it around. I can't tell you how many times I've seen refs yell at people for lifting their masks.
Heck, I was watching a game on the hyperball field after I was elimanted and there was a party of little kids watching. And five minutes before the ref yelled at one to keep his mask on and what happens? Stray shots go through the fencing (which was some cheap netting and chicken wire to be able to walk through to get to the other side without being on the field) the little kids jump and scream and the ref gets a paintball right to the goggles and tells them that's why they all need to keep their masks on.
If he didn't have the mask on his right eye would have been taken out, it was a spot on shot.
But hey, you can be the poster boy for mask safety. And at least you're taking this in stride as well.

Thanks for the sticky Ebon. I hope people find this useful, and as a good reminder. I have another appt. with the Doc tomorrow, but I'm not sure how much I'll find out (mainly I think it's to get my stitches out).
Tabris (and anyone else), feel free to print out the pictures, or use them however you want, to remind people of how serious this matter is--and even how I was really lucky compared to what would've happened 1 cm lower (no eye at all...).
EDIT: meant to post this is the general talk thread (I'll post there now )

My idiot freind was playing around once, what happend was we though his spyder was out of air, so somehow my door got locked in my hosue so I said to him go around the house and put the marker away, so after I got back in he said he put it away, so we were playin around and he picks the gun up and pretends to shoto me, whadda know strait it goes in my left chick just next to my lip, dead hit, I told that idiot"NEVER FIRE A MARKER WITH THE C02 TANK ON OR WITH THE BARREL ON" I told him taht a billion times, does he remember nooooo.
So I had a huge fat lip for 3 days, now he owes me, it would ahve been impossible for me to get hit in the eye though[I wear veyr veyr strong glasses and the marker was set at 200 fps]
Nothing compared to your hurt dude.
