Hopefully the final "Which gun" thread for 06

Hey, well this question appears all the time "Wuts better the 06 EGO or the G7" or.."The 06 matrix or the 06 bourg, when will this stop?? Well hopefully this thread will put a stop this ALL..well for at least this year. The 06 cockers havent arrived but this thread will include Specs of the following.
06 EGO, 06 Cybourg, PM6, DM6, 06 Speed, all the 06 Timmies', 05 Shocker and the Karnivor w/ E2 (i know the last 2 arent 06 but are very good markers).

1st Of all the highly antisipated 06 EGO

Mechanical enhancements:
  • Lower pressure operation. Larger volume of stored air in the valve chamber and in-line regulator allow operating pressure to be lowered by up to 50 psi
  • Shorter Bolt. Smaller bolt = less reciprocating mass, and therefore higher cycle speeds
  • Improved trigger design. New trigger loses 20% of its thickness and mass. Improved reaction and quicker return. Centrally mounted prong improves resistance to trigger sensor contamination by light and debris.
  • Trigger contoured for easier, faster-for-longer string shooting.
  • Larger Trigger Guard gives more room for those with fingers of the larger variety. Or even for those nimble enough to utilize the 3-Finger technique.
  • Multiple trigger return options. All markers come with spring and magnetic return options. Simply adjust in magnetic, or spring return mechanism. For smoothest pull, use both.
  • Integrated snatch grip. Longer frame allows easier carrying and more pleasing aesthetical design.
  • Integrated Dovetail Rail. On/Off mounts directly to the frame. No need for extra rail.
  • Rubberized Molded Ergonomic Button Covers. Adds extra element of protection from water ingress as well as comfort and ease of button pressing.
  • 06 Detents. Larger Detent base eliminates pull-thru and adds durability to the detent system.
  • New Range of Eclipse Colors: Jet Black, Gun Metal Grey, Navy Blue, Scarlet Red, British Racing Green.
  • New 06 Instruction Manual. More Detail, more pictures, more maintenance features.
  • New Body Profile. Sleeker design, lower weight, and more style. The Ego6 carries on the legendary Ego mantra of form and function combined.
  • New In-Line Regulator. Longer and thinner, the new reg offers greater shooting comfort, added style and a larger internal stored volume. It’s new dimensions also allow tighter hose configuration that utilizes easier-to-use push fittings and shorter hose length.

    Electronic enhancements:
  • New improved circuit board for the new trigger system. New mounting location (not interchangeable with 05 board) and new Optical trigger sensors. New sensors are more powerful, yet use less power than 05 Optical trigger system.
  • Advanced Microprocessor; new microprocessor has more power, more memory and greater power saving features than those of previous models.
  • More Powerful Eyes; the new Breech Sensor hardware means that the eyes will work in virtually direct sunlight yet use only 20% of the power of the '05 BBSS.
  • Improved Battery Life; battery life extended by as much as 63%, depending upon battery type and usage. Continuous tests at 10bps resulted in a 46% improvement over previous models using the factory fitted battery.
  • Improved Battery Terminals; new ‘gripper’ battery terminal design is more durable and provides better electrical contact than on previous models.
  • Thicker waterproof coating on the circuit board provides even more resistance to water than before.

    Software enhancements:
  • Improved Breech Sensor Logic; breech sensor is even more responsive than on previous models, which means that the Ego6 is able to react much quicker to paintballs entering the breech.
  • Multiple Factory Debounce Settings. Trigger debounce can be set on a simple scale of 1 to 5. Alternatively, users can adjust their own debounce settings. The TT Filter is still available yet can also be switched off completely if required, making this the easiest Ego yet to debounce.
  • Adjustable Trigger Hysteresis. Along with the traditional trigger stops, it is now possible to set the trigger activation and release points within the software, providing a level of adjustability far superior to any micro-switch.
  • Peak Rate-Of-Fire Indicator; giving two ROF indicators to choose from. Full one second sampling to give “True” number of Balls-Per-Second (same as 05 Ego), or Peak Rate-Of-Fire that gives the rate-of-fire between both the last two consecutive shots AND the fastest two shots achieved in a string. Peak ROF is stored after use for true “bragging rights”.
  • Improved Training Mode. Breech Sensor can be switched on and off in Training Mode and all parameters are ‘live’ for a true simulation without the bangs.
  • Improved LCD Readability. A new display font and larger BBSS icon improve readability. The dynamic battery level indicator is updated much more frequently than on previous models.

G7 Fly

The Angel G7 is the result of 9 years of Angel advancement and technical refinement. After being premiered at the San Diego NPPL event in November 2004, the G7 is due to be fully revealed at the Huntington Beach Super 7 World Series Event #1 on 17th March at the WDP booth.

The G7 has retained the Angels’ classically beautiful form, albeit in a tighter, more athletic package, but that is where most of the similarities end. Read on….

The G7’s internals have been completely redesigned, the basic component layout remains the same as previous low pressure Angels, but the components themselves are radically and conceptually different from Angels that have gone before.

The Angel G7 is even smaller and lighter than the A4 fly, which it replaces as WDP’s flagship marker.

The familiar pull-knob used to open the breach mechanism has been replaced with a sculpted lever-lok on the G7’s back plate, giving a smoother, more symmetrical line which, coupled with the G7s ultra-smooth lines, allows for faster cleaning and wipe downs between games. The new lever-lok also allows the bolt to be positioned further forward into the breech than was previously possible.

The G7’s redesigned ram and bolt incorporate larger porting than previous Angels. The hammer's weight and size has been reduced by over 30%, significantly reducing the kick caused by the hammer's movement on each shot, and producing the most stable firing platform possible. A single locating pin holds the re-designed ram unit in the optimum position, negating ram adjustment and ensuring that the ram is perfectly positioned to maximise performance at all times.

The G7’s exhaust valve guide and stem have also had a radical overhaul. The valve guide porting has been enlarged by 50% and re-designed to direct gas as efficiently and smoothly as possible through the valve and bolt on to the ball with minimum flow distortion.

The valve stem has seen a complete redesign, with a NEW valve stem, NEW spring and NEW spring guide being made as one modular system, offering even better shot to shot consistency. The valve, spring, and guide have also been miniaturised to facilitate a larger gas chamber. This, combined with a larger volume chamber in the mini reg, lowers the operating pressure of the marker to 225psi with no volumizer present, making the G7 the lowest pressure Angel ever, A small volumizer can still be used to lower the pressure even further if required.

The G7’s grip frame and trigger mechanism is identical to the awesome Angel Speed. The trigger is held by two roller bearings so it runs friction free. The trigger incorporates a dual polarity magnet system that uses 4 magnets. Two located in the trigger itself and a further two located in the G7’s vernier adjustment wheels. The magnets work in pairs. The front pair work as an attracting pair, the rear pair as an opposing set. This creates an ultra-smooth, crisp trigger action that has been so popular in the Angel Speed, and provides the perfect interface to deliver the G7’s awesome rate of fire of 31 balls per second at a consistent velocity.

The G7’s moulded grip panels have built in windows revealing the marker's advanced LCD user- interface and the reprogramming sensor. The redesigned panels allow for a slimmer narrower feeling grip. This redesign, coupled with additional tactile panels on the front and rear of the frame, gives four contact points between the hand and the grip frame. You have never been more in control.

The Angel G7's 3 function buttons are situated under a soft rubber membrane.

The 4.8 volt rechargeable metal hydride battery is still used, only this time it is a slim line version that is 1oz (28 grams) lighter than the previous battery, further reducing the guns overall weight.

The LPR in the Angel G7 has also been completely re-designed. The porting has been opened up by 50% and the springs and piston have been remodelled, to increase the gas flow and re-charge rate,. As a result, there has been a massive increase in stability and recovery rate, giving the user unsurpassed shot to shot consistency. Guaranteeing zero drop in range or accuracy even while achieving the G7’s incredible 31bps rate of fire.

The mini reg incorporates a front tactile rubber grip for extra control and stability, whilst inside the porting has been increased 100% to allow for even greater gas supply and increased flow to cope with lower pressure and increased fire power.

The G7’s bolt is still based on the proven soft face bolt, but is now longer, and designed to work in tandem with the new high-flow valving, to ensure smooth turbulence-free travel for the gas blast as it is released to fire the paintball. This increases gas efficiency and shot to shot consistency.

The Angels advanced electronics have always been the industry benchmark. The G7’s board incorporates all the technical features loved by Angel users the world over. The Angel G7 now incorporates the 'switch ON and GO' feature as proven in the Angel Speed. Vibrating alarms and game timers that can be set in 30 second increments, shot counters, temperature read out, Infrared communication, trigger de-bounce settings, and the usual array of modes that one would expect from the Worlds most advanced Paintball Marker.

Due to the diversification of tournament rules, extra modes have been added to the G7’s arsenal, including the introduction of 15 bps capped modes. These new modes allow G7 users to out-shoot their opponents no matter what tournament restrictions are in place.

The loader speed settings have also been increased. The standard, medium, fast and S-fast settings seen on the fly are replaced with settings that run from 1 to 16 with the familiar S-fast setting actually equating to a number 8 setting. This further increases the users opportunity of achieving the Angel's incredible maximum rate of fire when used in conjunction with a fully functional, high performance loader.

The G7 is available in the following colours
Black Gloss Polish
Graphite Gloss Polish
Red Gloss Polish
Deep Blue Gloss Polish
Black Dust
Graphite Dust

• NEW smaller, lighter rechargeable battery unit.
• NEW Breech release system
• NEW redesigned Zero Kick Ram Unit
• NEW modular Exhaust system
• NEW smaller 14 way valve
• NEW Larger Volume chambers and sculpted gas porting
• for even lower pressure
• NEW longer, remodelled Soft Face Bolt.
• NEW modes of fire
• NEW Gripper Panels
• 45 frame or 90 frame Grip Options
• Hi-Gloss ‘Liquid finish’

Now all of these specs might be giving you eye-sores. You might come down to two which you think look really cool and sound really good, but that's no where it ends.
What you should try and do is narrow it down from obvious pros and cons over other markers, choose your price range, which ones are easier to maintain etc..

But for god sakes, go to a local paintball store, ask to hold the markers and kind of throw them around (not literally) but snap shoot with them and all of that stuff. Get the feel. I know that I don't like the feel of Ego's and a lot of people love them. Like you'll hear over and over "It's personal preference" and that might piss you off, but it is.

Thanks for reading, thanks to all the people who helped and thanks to All the sites whos information i used. Too many to name, but thank you.

*and yes, I did copy and paste, but what do you expect? I'm not going to write my personal review on all of these guns!*

Not to nit-pick, but the Karni you have pictured is sporting an E1. Very nice post though. Much respect for an Oct 05'er.

G7 Fly

The Angel G7 is the result of 9 years of Angel advancement and technical refinement. After being premiered at the San Diego NPPL event in November 2004, the G7 is due to be fully revealed at the Huntington Beach Super 7 World Series Event #1 on 17th March at the WDP booth.

The G7 has retained the Angels classically beautiful form, albeit in a tighter, more athletic package, but that is where most of the similarities end. Read on.

The G7s internals have been completely redesigned, the basic component layout remains the same as previous low pressure Angels, but the components themselves are radically and conceptually different from Angels that have gone before.

The Angel G7 is even smaller and lighter than the A4 fly, which it replaces as WDPs flagship marker.

The familiar pull-knob used to open the breach mechanism has been replaced with a sculpted lever-lok on the G7s back plate, giving a smoother, more symmetrical line which, coupled with the G7s ultra-smooth lines, allows for faster cleaning and wipe downs between games. The new lever-lok also allows the bolt to be positioned further forward into the breech than was previously possible.

The G7s redesigned ram and bolt incorporate larger porting than previous Angels.

The G7s exhaust valve guide and stem have also had a radical overhaul.

The G7s grip frame and trigger mechanism is identical to the awesome Angel Speed. The trigger is held by two roller bearings so it runs friction free. The trigger incorporates a dual polarity magnet system that uses 4 magnets. Two located in the trigger itself and a further two located in the G7s vernier adjustment wheels. The magnets work in pairs. The front pair work as an attracting pair, the rear pair as an opposing set. This creates an ultra-smooth, crisp trigger action that has been so popular in the Angel Speed, and provides the perfect interface to deliver the G7s awesome rate of fire of 31 balls per second at a consistent velocity.

The G7s moulded grip panels have built in windows revealing the marker's advanced LCD user- interface and the reprogramming sensor.

Guaranteeing zero drop in range or accuracy even while achieving the G7s incredible 31bps rate of fire.

The mini reg incorporates a front tactile rubber grip for extra control and stability, whilst inside the porting has been increased 100% to allow for even greater gas supply and increased flow to cope with lower pressure and increased fire power.

The G7s bolt is still based on the proven soft face bolt, but is now longer, and designed to work in tandem with the new high-flow valving, to ensure smooth turbulence-free travel for the gas blast as it is released to fire the paintball. This increases gas efficiency and shot to shot consistency.

The Angels advanced electronics have always been the industry benchmark. The G7s board incorporates all the technical features loved by Angel users the world over.

Due to the diversification of tournament rules, extra modes have been added to the G7s arsenal, including the introduction of 15 bps capped modes.
