internals of the Gen 4 guns
All right, alot of people have been asking me what the main difference between the Gen3 style timmies and the new Gen4 style timmies
Well here's an informative thread
Doesn't look like much has changed right?
Well if you look closely, you'll see quite a bit has changed... the Ram cap is now female threaded and threads ONTO the Ram sleeve instead of INTO it... this cuts the length down by a good inch or so... The ram sleeve itself has a tiny hole in the back of it (not pictured) as opposed to a barb (a barb is doing the work, just not right there) which eliminates the need for the rear barb so close to the back of the gun, taking even more length off the back of the gun
Now what was i just talking about?
On the right hand side of the picture, there is a small housing consisting of a barb, 4 screws and an o-ring (acts as a gasket), this controls the air movement to the back rear of the marker... and if you look at the barb on the FRONT of the ram.. you'll notice the ram sleeve is now cut and angle'd so the barb rests on an angle, saving some room INSIDE of the marker and not having hose all over the place.
Now, the biggest difference I found in the marker was internally, a re-designed poppet assembly and a ram which is lightweight, and has a built-in bumper
As you can see... the is a male threaded hex fitting cap ( A ) (3/8's in size) which houses the new, smaller poppet spring ( B )... this allows for a lower pressure operation and reduced kick due to the spring not constantly pinging back and forth inside of the LPR housing.
( D ) is the new Ram design with a built in bumper... as you can see, the Black circle at the rear is the bumper... ( F ) is the Female fitting for the bumper which includes an adjustible set screw to set the bolt/ram position
( E ) is the new bolt... doesn't look too much different but it appears to be smaller in size from the 2005 style Intimidators
The ram sleeve is now double-male threaded (threaded on both the poppet end and the ram cap end).
Also, got a question for you all... any idea what this new o-ring on the poppet does? I can see that it seals the poppet cap, but why?
Here's an inside view of the poppet cap
I hope this thread has helped those who read it... If you need to know anything else... trouble shooting, or even more details or pics, feel free to ask, i'll be happy to try to answer more questions

By poppet head do you mean the part that sits on the ramsleeve or the part oposite it? I have a spare so i can just pull it out and measure it. Also CM or Inches?

The part closest to the o-ring is (diameter) 3/8 as far as i can tell(not including o-ring).
The part that screws into the poppet is 7/16 but probably about 15/32 but i dont have anything that measures that.
These are really rough calculations though .

The Tragedy
|
all i need now is the measurement:
front of the gun where the barrel screws in, to the bolt slot.
is it true that the measurement:
front edge of the bolt slot to the front edge of the bolt pin is 3.4cm?
does the bolt travel that full distance?
when the bolt is fully forward and the poppit fully compressed is it right on the front edge of the bolt slot?

No, like i said before, even when the poppet spring is fully compressed it does not touch the bolt slot. When the bolt is all the way foward but not pushing in the poppet it is 1.4 cm if i remember correctly.
Now it is a hard measurement to do since the spring is so strong, but when the bolt is foward and compressing the spring it is 1cm.

Call or E-Mail BLAST and explain that it failed on you (i guess?) and then they should ship one out to you, BLAST has been really good to me.

I'm guessing it was overtightened at the factory, and when i went to remove it, it just broke. I;ve got one on the way, thank you.
