Things I hate most on my stock ion would be...
#1- the tank fitting
#2- the feedneck or the barrel
#3- the feedneck or the barrel
And the three jsut go on down the list... The stock bolt wasn't too great, but I replaced it with a SP Firebolt and WOW

well im getting an ion soon (finaly) and i did some reserch and the lighting bolt is the lightest and the deadly wind barrel is one of the lighest on the markert (carbon fiber) and it takes freak inserts so yeah those may be good investments

dude what up with your thing about steal tanks? your like (if you're using a steel tank (as many noobies are). That is like not cool. that is like saying that all people that use ions are noobs. I have been playing for over 3 years and have a verry nicely uped Nerve, but being on a kinda small buget ofter fixing up the nerve the way i wanted it i just didnt feall like i could spend the money on a 200 dollar carben fiber tank at least right now. does that make me a noob?? I dont think so it just means i dont have tons of money and my momy and dady wont buy it for me. N e one tell me if they think im wrong or right.

Pretty sure I already addressed the exact same comment about a few posts down from the original.
1) This post was targeted for noobs as experienced players probably wouldn't be reading it anyway.
2) Most noobs, fact of life, buy the Ion because it is an economical gun and as a result don't have a wad of cash. And as a result can usually only afford steel tanks initially.
Oh, and for #3, I worked by butt off for every single part on my gat. Seeing as how I don't live with Mommy and Daddy anymore, they hardly throw chunks of cash at me along with random Ion parts. I am by no means a noob, I've played for several years, but when I bought mine I had to go with a steel tank initially and then buy a fiber later down the line. I'm saying from personal experiece that shooting an Ion with a steel tank and no new asa feels like packing an overweight assault rifle.

Like many people said I would get a:
Feedneck=CCM Heliclamp(works wonders)
Barrel= Carbon Fiber or Cheaper CP one piece (Ultralites are nice too)
ASA=On/Off asa w/rail or a Cp mini razor drop
QEV=360
Bolt= Fire Bolt
Board=APE Rampage or T-Board
Body=Whatever floats your boat later down the line
DO NOT WASTE MONEY ON EYES
Reg=CP or Bob Long

My opinion on order of performance upgrades:
1 - Trigger (I can't get the stock one to walk, wrong angle for me)
2 - Barrel kit (better accuracy)
3 - Bolt (faster and more efficient)
4 - Qev (faster and more efficient)

If you get an Ion, the first thing you should get is a clamp feedneck. After this i suggest a freak barrel and mabye a vurtue board. But a clamp feed neck will make a world of differance. other than that a stock Ion is a great marker.

barrel? go for the lucky un1tec. it saves a lot of money. if you want cf go get a deadlywind fibur (formerly wisper) but you're going to need freak inserts. oh yeah look into the freak jr. as well

If you just got an Ion, I wouldn't go with any body upgrades for awhile. Personally, I think that you need to make your gun work better and faster than make it look cooler. Here's the order I bought my upgrades:
1. New AA Barrel
2. New clamping feedneck
3,4. 360 QEV and Firebolt at same time
5. Virtue Board
Now I have an average looking gun like everybody else, but the internals will blow almost anybody off the field.
