The future of masks.
Ok so i was thinking the other night about a new mask technology. The lens would display something like a HUD. Which would show you the positions of your teammates, approximately how many balls left in your loader, and how many shots you have left on your battery (if you have an electric gun). And the refs would have something similar but w/ a speed display. Showing how fast the teams guns are shooting allowing them to catch cheaters in the act. Fighter jets already have this kind of tech and they are working on something like it for ground troops. So what do think, could this possibly be the future of paintball masks?

So how expensive exactly do you want our masks to become? The technology you're talking about isn't cheap.

I like the idea but wouldn't the mask be a pretty expensive? Not to mention all those electronics on your head, a fall face first or rain could ruin them.

I think a slightly more practicle option is thermal imageing. You could see where everyone is and what they are doing. The would probably not be tourney legal though.

Probably not and it'd kinda take away the fun of not knowing where the other team is.

i dont like the idea of all that electronic stuff atleast not in speedball the only thing i like is the idea for the refs catching hot guns and stuff i think that would help but i dont think there is a need for that stuff for a player

There is a way you can 'play' with those kind of goggles. It's called the Army, though they play with bullets and not balls of paint.

Well for now, HUD units are availible. You can pretty easily make your own from parts you can find at radio shack. Mount a small camera to your marker, and the screen in your goggles. Make your own land-warrior system.
As thermal and goggle mounted chronographs, might be a little ways off due to the high costs.
The cost it actually takes to make this stuff is relatively low in comparisoin to what they sell it for

No, i want paintball to stay the way it is, teamwork and communication become obsolete if you know where everyone on the field is. Watch a speedball game all you hear is "G1 G1!" or like "50 stand up 50 stand up!" thats teamwork. With that HUD bull**** it would take away from the game and skill. Pffft people say ramping takes away from skill. Anyway with refs it wouldnt be that bad, but it would only show what bps a person is shooting, what fps a person is shooting and if the persons finger movements match the speed they are shooting(assuming its NPPL).
