This thread was civil for the 1st two posts. I feel like i'm on pbn right now. How sad.

For the record, i'd take the promaster any day. Why? Well, IMO, ram and poppet > spool. A spooly has a million orings, and a flat spot in just one of them and you've got a leak and/or a busted gun. A ram and poppet can take alot more abuse, alot more debris, alot more neglect, and still work. Just as low recoil, just as low pressure, and faster. I think we have a winner.

QTF, I don't really care about quietness or kick anyway.

I've never shot a EP gun period that kicked. Rather it be a ram and poppet or spool valve. And noise is mostly dependant on the valve and barrel anyway. So either way you look at it, your main decision factors will be size, and reliability.

The biggest thing that is not letting me decide is which one is more reliable, and which one is easier to take care of/field strip.

Also my friend wants to know which one is more noob/user friendly

For field stripping I'd say the Promaster is the clear winner. The Ion is a bit harder to take apart due to it's design. Reliability is probably a toss up depending on the opinion of the user.

They're both newb/user friendly.

For sure, but one thing I thought was really dumb about the Ion was that you have to take out the solenoid to change the body kits. If you don't know too much about the Ion it can be a hassle.

This has probally been asked, but I havn't found it yet.

Ion-200
Qev-15
NDZ trigger-25
q-lock-35
Total: 275

VS.

Stock Promaster
asa with on/off-35
macro kit-10
Total: $295

How do these two match up

Also wich one is easier to take care of and requires less maintnance.

I didn't even know this thread was still alive!
So either gun is going to cost about $300 bones to be up and running plus the 150-200 for a good tank. I hate to get an ION just because my local store has one (he doesn't carry any ICD). There is no way im going to drop $300 without atleast dry fireing. Maybe I can brown nose at my local field and get a guy with a promaster let me go threw a hopper of paint.
After watching many videos of each the kick on the PM is minimul if any, and of course the ION doesn't have much. The milling on the PM is so much nicer. To get an ION looking that cool I would spend another 30-45 bucks on body kits. Plus, since I know the ins and outs of a blow back I think (maybe im way off on this, i dunno) the PM would resemble my spyder internals a little more than and ION and I wouldn't have such a hard time learning it...right? Dang, if I don't spend my money soon its going into college applications!

lol no the promaster will not resemble ur spyder internals. its a completely different gun. i would go with the promaster, it is the best gun out there for the price even with the asa and macro line add on. its a lot better than an ion.

No need to bring up dead threads more so if they're on this topic.
