ion or shocker
I am thinking of getting a shocker sft, but i already have a ion. Do you guys think that i should get a shocker sft(sell my ion), or upgrade my ion. If i got the shocker i would get a new bolt and feedneck. Why?

Save up and sell the ion and get the shocker NXT. Do you really need a "why"?

oh sweet jesus yes. why do ppl think ions are lik shockers? dude the only thing the ion and NXT has in common is that tehy are both single tube spool valves. NXT is better in every way. and that is a WHOLE lotta shocker for 700 too. in retrospect, 1-2 years ago you could pay 1000+ for shocker and they still had 1 eye, not bolt kit, tiny trigger guards, etc. i mnea 06 shockers are 600 and look at what comes with them? nothing. and crappy bottom lines. the 07 is ready to go for 700 plus a clamping feed.

you can find used SFT shockers that will perform just like NXT's besides the breakbeam eyes, unless you get a break-beam conversion from speedscustom.
its so sad when you guys compare the ion to a shocker.

I'm not convincing anyone about the SFT. but since im more of a money-saving type of guy, I'd rather be with a used upgraded SFT that is almost 50% cheaper than the NXT's since they shoot the same. but there are reasons to go with the NXT's also. what I said was nothing more than my opinion on SFT's, because ikey made it sound pretty degrading, and me owning an SFT.. i have to give my side of the story.
i know i just got my shocker not long ago, but it doesn't take long to figure out its better than an ion lol
why are you getting all butthurt? on your period?

all I said was its sad when people compare an ion with a shocker. i would have said the same thing if it was "ion or dm6" or any other high-end gun for that matter. thats not bad-mouthing, that is what you call truth. two different classes should never be compared

shocker > ion, but they are so simlar that i don't see much point in going from an ion to a shocker.
they have similar methods of operation and are similar in construction (both single tube, inline dump chamber markers). as a result, they will feel similar. the shocker (2k3) certainly shoots smoother IMO and plams a bit better, but is still very similar to the ion. if you like the size and shape of the ion, but want something a little more agg and more smooth a marker then the shocker is the way to go.
if you want the ability to tune your marker's pneumatics, or if you want a stacked tube marker then stay away from the ion and shocker and get an EGO, PM or timmy.

The shocker is indeed the better choice by far. But an Ion can be a contender. put a virtue in it with a firebolt and that thing will feel similar to the shocker. Might wanna put a good feedneck on there while your at it.

shocker = ion's big brother
shockers have a smoothe/solid/stable feel to it. quieter from what im experiencing, and has a better ramping software IMO, 4 adjustable ramping activation speeds. but a stock shocker is less efficient than a stock ion. and the price difference is like 150%

Shocker no doubt. It still remains a much more streamlined marker then ion. And is lighter. But the main fact is that the ion uses hoses to recharge the firing can and solenoid, while the shocker does not. Much faster recharge rate which makes it alot more consistant at higher rates of fire. I found that the ion seems to drop in pressure at any rof over 11bps. Even with a qev, you would be able to see the needle of the gauge drop a little bit and ride the lower pressure during high rates of fire. Not too bad with qev, but the shocker's recharge rate is instintanious.

I have shot them both,and have an ion its not worht upgrading ur ion...it will never be as good as a shocker. I say buy a shocker and keep the ion as backup or try to sell it for upgrade money for the shocker
