*TIP* how to keep your camo looking new
nothing worse then spending good cash on new camo, and having it fading out with in a year..
how do you stop that?
take a tip from the US Gov.
http://www.armystudyguide.com/conten...-uniform.shtml
"most" detergents CONTAINS OPTICAL BRIGHTENERS, this is to make colors "brighter", but this is bad for camo and dark colors. this is what makes "blacks" turn gray.
what you want to use is this..
DO NOT CONTAIN BRIGHTENERS:
Bold Powder
Cheer Liquid (all versions)
Cheer Powder (all versions)
All Powder (all versions)
Surf Powder (all versions)
Woolite (all versions)
Woolite makes a "dark clothing" version which is great for camo, but i, as a hunter, need something that can double duty for my hunting camo, for that you also need sent free, so i use Cheer color guard Liquid no-scent, its in a white bottle at walmart.

Very useful information, I for one think that this should be added to the Ultimate Sticky.
Oh wait, there is no ultimate sticky in this forum. I still think this should be stuck.

Another good Idea
I also use a special soap, they make a hunter's soap liquid detergent. And and easy one is to turn your camo around. The adgetation of the washer and dryer also fade. Turn your clothes around inside out and that will also help out a ton.

That's not why we don't use detergents with optical brighteners. It ruins the signature of the uniforms, and makes them stand out to nvg and thermal imaging. Same reasons we don't starch our battle uniforms.
And BTW, true black doesn't exist in nature, which is why there is no black in the Army's new ACU uniform. True black stands out. Gray is not a bad thing. And somewhat faded cammies stand out less then brand new ones.
Honestly, I have been wearing the same cammies since boot camp, and except for some holes here and there they are still serviceable. If you are having them fade after a year, maybe you are just buying cheap cammies.
My .02. Your mileage may vary.

The black is for shadows. It really depends on the camo, i usually end up going metal gear when I play walk ons and change it for every field.
So depending on where you play you'll need different colors.

Great info However if you can not find any of the non colour brightner detergents on the list use 2 cups of WHITE vinegar in the wash as this will help to Colour fast the fabric and nutralize the acetic properties of the detergent. Turn them inside out as well. ALLWAYS USE COLD WATER!

you may also want to only drip dry your camo. the heat from a dryer can speed along the fading process

its only illegal if you use it to accomplish something unsafe to others or illegal in an of itself. if you bought it and used it as the "General" of your PB team, and when asked responded as such. the problem is when you put it on and try to get access to a facility, or tell a real military person to do something under the belief you are what the clothes represent ...
I will say Sevenfold has good reason to be cautious, heres an more common example, if you rented/bought a policeman outfit for Halloween, you would be in trouble if you pulled someone over (cute girl) and harassed them and said you were a cop. but its not a crime to rent the outfit or wear it..its also not illegal to own a blue dome police light. it is very illegal to have it in your car and use it to run lights/disturb traffic... another more common example.
I myself used to where patched camo as a young man for hunting and PB when I used to play (they were given to me by an uncle) I never had an issue.

I just let my camo job chip a bit...However if it gets too bad or gives shine I give it a light extra coat.
