Brand New Marker

hey guys, back with another question before i empty my wallet on a marker. Would an Ion be a suitable beginner marker? or should i go with a Promaster? It's my first time owning a marker so i'd like to buy something that i can fool around with and see how the parts work, yet have a low high-end marker to use so then i dont have to shell out another $250 for another marker. Which one would be better? (looking for EP's)

In that range, it's a matter of personal preference as to which you like better. They operate and shoot differently. I'd suggest trying both, if you can, before you buy. I think the Ion is a lot of marker for the money but it does require some upgrades.

The first of which is a clamping feedneck. Beyond that you should look into getting QEV's, an On/Off ASA and a better regulator at some point. Also think about a new barrel, but the Feedneck is the first mandatory upgrade you should get.

Also, consider that both of these markers require High Pressure Air and not CO2. And both will require a motorized loader.

I agree with lopez my buddy has an ion I have tryed it out and I think it is great especially for the price. Like lopez said it does need some upgrades. My buddy got a qev, feedneck ( don't cheap out on the feedneck) new reg and a new bolt. I only real upgrade that you need right away would be a new feedneck. Because you don't want your hopper falling out. And as far as hoppers go my buddy uses a egg 3 it works great with his gun. I personaly don't like the look of it but thats my opinion

Don't get a EP for a first marker, you'll break it and I'll laugh.

Get something like a Spyder or Tippmann that's easy to maintain, is upgradeable, and won't need a expensive air system and agitating or force fed hopper.

The Ion would be harder seeing as you have to take the thing apart to get to the bolt, but with a EP there's a lot more maintenance involved and more things to go wrong if you don't keep up on that maintenance. I wouldn't suggest a EP for a first marker unless if you are a good mechanic, and are willing to take the time to sit down and read about your marker and how it operates, and what to do to fix it, and what to fix it with.

TechT makes a training DVD for alsmot every marker out there. I'd get the Lasoya Promaster though as it is much better and it costs as much as the Ion.

You'll need HPA, and a fast loader if you decide to get either one and if you get the Lasoya Promaster you'll need to buy a ASA and macroline.

Guess not, but the manual tells you everything you need to know about the marker.

Up to you. Wanna be the norm? Get an Ion.

They're not much different as for how they perform.

I'd get a Lasoya Promaster as it performs better than an Ion for the same price. Keep in mind for either gun you'll need HPA and a fast loader helps but isn't needed. For the Lasoya Promaster you'll need to buy a ASA and macroline kit too as it doesn't come with one.

the only problem is that the lasoya PM doesn't sell in canada i think i'll go with the Ion since almost EVERYONE has tried/owned and Ion before so if anything goes wrong, i can just visit a proshop. Also, there aren't taht many upgrades for the promaster in canada...sigh~

YEah the ion has a lot of upgrades and isn't really thaT har to maintain. ONce you take it apart for the first time you wont ever be nervous to take it apart again. IT is a really nice marker.

I think your making a good choice with the Ion. Its some-what cheap and when you upgrade it a bit it will be better then a promaster. The lesoya can't be upgraded as much s the Ion. Though the only thing is (and I'm not sure if it has been mantioned or not) is that you will need a decent loader and maybe an HPA tank or anti-siphoned co2.

Getting an Ion isn't being "norm" its being smart IMO. With the lesoya you need to additionally get an ASA, macro line and it won't tolerate Co2 at all.

Though maybe you would want to get a some kind of spyder as your first gun...

The promaster IMO is a better stock marker, however, the Ion can be upgraded to one of the best markers. I vote Ion. I'm going to buy a Ion Pro.

icd is crap, steer clear away. I've played/owned several promasters and not one worked consistently, the lpr and hpr is crap, and the power button is in the worst place. go with the ion.

Badlandspaintball.com sells promasters, and are Canadian. I personally would go with the promaster, but mostly because I dislike having what everyone else has. (like the m98 that I have now lol.)
