I was shocked with that decision too. I had it 4-1 Shogun with the 3rd round (barely) going to Machida. Great technical fight but I think there are some guys that can really put a hurting on Lyoto in that division. I'd love to see a guy like Rampage fight him...hell Couture might even be an interesting match up. He has a tough chin and fought heavyweight fighters for a long time. Couture also likes to get in, clinch and dirty box which is something that Machida has never really experienced. That's a wicked division to fight in with the power of the fighters. I think a Lyoto Machida vs Anderson Silva fight would be interesting too. Silva's done exceptionally well at the 205 lb division KO'ing Forrest Griffin and James Irvin, making them both look silly in the process.

Good news: I moved into a new apartment in ATL on sunday. YEAH!
Bad news: I has no internets there yet. Looking at getting ATT's highest speed DSL, but I will not be on much for a week or two until I make a decision and get it hooked up. You will all have to soldier on without me. Do be careful.

i hope it wasnt a "you're gonna get shot in atlanta" joke. atlanta aint nothin, its ranked 18th on murder rate for US cities. i live about 15 miles away and right in between #1 and #3. born for the streets son
but really though, even walkin around in baltimore and dc its not that bad. just certain corners you dont walk around by yourself and certain stop signs you dont stop at unless you want to lose your car. most of the city is fine.

Watching "The Wire" makes me never want to visit that part of the country again. I liked DC, and basically saw all I needed to, but we drove through Baltimore, where I saw more than I wanted to.
I drive to Detroit all the time. That city ain't nothin'. 8 Mile doesn't even look that bad.

it really depends on what part of baltimore you are in. some really beautiful places, i love going to the inner harbor. area around johns hopkins hospital on the other hand i gotta look over my shoulder. i was actually talking to a doctor there and he was talking about how people walk right in the front door of the hospital with gunshot wounds.
"Oh, you mean the door im about to walk out of at 1am in the morning and run a marathon to get to my car, that door? sweet..."

yessir, Shogun is probably the best in the division and his waist should reflect it.

I feel like I've gained a lot of street smarts living in St. Louis. Freaking dangerous city, especially around my school.

Paintball in itself is pretty dead.
This post is way too good to pass up. This was posted on the local AZ paintball forum (pbaz.com). The kid bought a Blitz pump online because it was cheaper than in store. The local proshop sells custom factory ano'd Blitzs. Now onto the funny...

All the people my age just can't afford it anymore with Student loans and such to payback, plus the newer players who came out to try just once got totally overshot half the time, who would want to come play again once that happens?
I'll leave my rant about everyone on the planet living beyond their means and not being able to afford anything without credit, alone....

no big deal. I go to classes at Georgia State, which is right in the middle of downtown Atlanta. If I'm gonna get mugged or shot, it's gonna be walking to my car at night after classes, and that sort of thing does happen semi-regularly to students. My apartment is in a comparably safe part of town, Virginia Highlands, much safer than the GSU campus area. Anywhere inside the perimeter is gonna have more crime than the suburbs, but as long as you're careful and find a decent neighborhood, you can live in ATL with minimal risk.
The problem with ATL is the bad parts and good parts are all kinda jumbled together. You can be in a good spot, walk 2 blocks, and be in a bad spot, then another 2 blocks and everything is find again. It's really weird.

Sounds kind of like the inner part of Greenville.
