Shug, I agree that he was probably going to fast, but ya can never know the conditions precisely. During that same storm someone slammed their brakes on in front of me and started to slide side ways. I didn't even attempt to stop, I just ran through the ditch way clear of the action and kept on going. I would have gotten a ticket too if a cop wanted to be a moron, but things like that happen all the time and I don't see why anyone should get their nickers in a twist.

its a **** move on the cops part, but it is justified and would likely hold in court. citation for running a red light vs citation for failure to control the vehicle, they will tell you that you were going too fast for road conditions. around here with all the snow they have been telling people not to go out on the roads when they are bad unless you are an emergency worker, and thus have not been very forgiving with citations.

then again, crown vics and chargers havent been doing too well in the snow themselves, so police presence has been limited.

You might as well give people a ticket for failure to signal properly before driving off the road into a ditch, too.

still remember back when i was first learning to drive stick in a huge empty part of the parking lot at the mall a cop drove by and told me i couldnt do it there and that he could give me a ticket for driving in circles in a parking lot. clearly it would be safer for me to stall out or lunge forward on highway merge lanes or red lights with cars in front and behind me.

Same, but we were in an abandoned parking lot and a cop saw us from the highway. It was lame.

lol then I'd tell him I can also not pay that ticket because he has zero real authority. What's he gonna do? Have the mall security tow your car to the mall impound lot?

You should have gotten a receipt and written "ticket for 50 trillion dollars for improper use of yellow lights" on the back of it and then given it to him saying it had the same amount of authority as his rent-a-cop badge gave him.

not a mall cop, an actual county cop in the mall parking lot. they always hang around there so they can respong quickly when the mall cops call for backup.

He can't give you a ticket for driving in circles in a mall parking lot unless the mall directs him to, the mall is private property, and you aren't breaking any laws.

As for tickets - only one I got was doing 80 in a 45 (base emergency). He knew what was going on, so he was nice enough to write the ticket down to going 51 in a 45 [the lowest he could go]. He had to issue me something, as he had the cruiser cam recording at the time.

Been pulled over a few other times, funniest was for going too slow (20 in a 45, 3 am, trying to read street signs. Cop thought I might be drunk or having a stroke.)

Just sitting here in Tampa Bay bored outa my mind waitng for my flight which leaves in 6 hours. But on the way down here was mint. I got to stay in Tampa for a night during some gasa ciesta festival or something. It was basically like a mini mardigraw. But now i get to go to minneapolis and then back home to Vancouver to party like a rockstar and watch us take gold in hockey.

if you guys beat slovakia and we beat finland tomorrow (which both should happen imo), its gonna be a pretty epic gold medal game.

i would make some comment about how us beat canada in prelims on home turf, but im sure that would be countered witht he fact that its the first time the us has beat canada in 50 years. so ima let that one slide.
