He did manage to push the throttle sleeve too far down the bar when he dumped it at some point, which then caused it to stick and he ran straight into a fence. Bent the fork legs pretty good, need to be replaced. Uncle already bought another used TT-R90 which is in much better shape and probably a better size for a 7yr old for when the kid gets used to riding.
My first bike was a TTR-90. I got to where I could ride that thing wide open around the kiddy track and push all the slow newfriends off the track who were learning.... but then my dad moved me up to 65's and then... I got put in my place until I got faster.

I figure if he keeps riding he will be far better than I am by the time he is a teenager. Right now though he has a pretty short attention span and doesn't listen very well, which is probably true of most kids but it's hard to teach him things. He seems to eventually figure it out on his own but does it the hard way.

I am probably going to have access to a tractor for the next couple weeks, have a few acres to dig up and build a little track on. Lots of small trees and stumps to clear and a pretty thin layer of soil to work with, but hopefully I can come up with something cool.

All you guys be careful riding those dirtbikes, I know a kid that just died recently after a dirtbike accident, he was put into a medically induced coma and died from kidney failure shortly afterwards.

Thanks, Dad. . .

In all seriousness, I think dieing of MODS after wrecking a bike is defiantly not a good way to go out.

So after riding the dirtbike I've completely forgotten how to ride a mountain bike. Decided to ride mine over a little tabletop that I built and forgot that the bike weighs 220lbs less and has 1/4 the suspension travel than what I'm used to. Went wayyy higher than I expected, landed flat. I'm hurt.

And most serious injuries I've heard about on dirtbikes result from hitting trees. Have to be careful any time you are going fast near them. I know a guy who hit one while skiing, and he was also in a coma and died a couple days later.

So my bowel movement this morning was alot more entertaining than catching up on what is going on in AOT.
In other news I just got back from a 30 mile backpack trip with a 5 mile side trip up and epic 14,000ft mountain. Pictures to come.

Snowmass. We might have done a first ascent route on the mountain, but I am still trying to confirm it. Can't say I would ever try the route again though.
Which ones have you climbed, Speedy? I'm up to five now. I got Capitol, Pyramid, Snowmass, Princeton, and Antero. We are going to be doing both of the Maroon Bells here in about 3-4 weeks. We are kinda starting with the hardest in the state.

See picture for epic route. The green is on the other side of the ridge from where the picture was taken.

Antero, I think Redcloud and one or two others. I think we have seen pretty much every 14er in the San Juans, but as I recall many of them would have been way too difficult to climb. I was probably 13 last time I was out there, would love to go back again.

Cool pic btw. Hard to tell from pictures, definately looks like a challenging route towards the center though.

Sounds like even more reasons to come visit me!!!
The first mile or so, middle part under the prow, was really spicy. Had low 5th class climbing, lots of exposer, lots of snow, and alot of crappy loose rock. We sent one rock about the size of a couch over 2000ft down to the lake... I don't really have any desire to ever repeat that route.

On to more exciting things. Is everyone excited to got back to school!!??? YAY!!!
In all seriousness though, I really don't want to go to class tomorrow. I wish it was May already and I would be done with school for a very long time.

I think I need to look into a KX fork, or at least heavier springs and valves for mine. Even with the compression at full hard and coming down rear first I feel the front bottom out.

Yeah, KX forks are in order. That bike isn't really made for cutting and thrusting, blasting berms, and jumping.

Kinda crazy that there was an earthquake back there. Didn't know you guys had a fault near enough for that. My brother is outside Boston for a wedding this weekend and they canned all the returning flights... Guess I got the house alone for acouple more days.

We've had like 2.0 earthquakes that you never really feel. 5.8 is supposed to be a 100yr deal and the worst since 1944. And now a huge hurricane, also supposed to be like a 100yr deal and also supposed to be the worst since 1944. Probably going to lose power for a while and a lot of roads will be flooded, but shouldn't have any flooding problems by my house.

Update: Hurricane Irene has set a record for the most boring natural disaster of all time. It's moved a little further off the coast, which might be bad for people up north, but in the MD/DC area it's just been raining for like 8 hours. Almost no wind at all.
