Paintball Justice- Scammer charged with Felony
This just warms my heart to hear when people are brought to justice like this.
NEW PALTZ - Police say a New Paltz man who scammed two people out of their paintball gear has been charged with felony fraud.
William DeQuarto, 19, was charged with felony scheme to defraud. In January, police received complaints from a victim in Illinois and one in Oklahoma. Each victim was separate and unknown to the other.
Each reported that they had agreed to swap their gear with a New Paltz resident and sent equipment valued at $1,800. They expected to receive gear of equal value. One victim received about $5 worth of paintball gear and other received nothing.
Police say DeQuarto used another local manís paintball online account to arrange the deal with the victims and never intended to compensate them.
DeQuarto was arrested last week and released on an appearance ticket.
