A lot of people are scared that if they paint their gun, and mess up, you've just really messed up you're really nice tippy. Now I don't know if this is a really stupid idea but has anyone ever tried a gun sock? I've seen hunters with gun socks on their rifles so I was thinking that maybe I can get my Grandma or someone to make me a gun sock for my tippy out of realtree fabric or something. Preferably something stretchy but I haven't found any stretchy camo material. This would be great for woods play and there's no way you can compare a homemade paint job to camo cloth.
Also then if you are going to play speed ball or something in where you don't need camouflage then you can just take the sock off and it's still a real nice looking tippy.

that sounds like a really good idea, i'll have to look into that i'd rather have the sock than try and paint mine, just cuz i've never done it before and it takes less effort cuz i'm a lazy a**.

Ooh...I'm not sure about the silver.... I've never handled a silver one, so i'm not sure if it's like the black anodizing or not. Anyone else happen to know if the silver should be sanded? (I"m going to guess YES...but do it lightly.)

Paint sticks better. You don't sand it ALL off. At least on the black...I just lightly sand it...I leave enough on there that what's left acts as a "base coat primer". Understand?

The whole process? *laughs* Well, read the instructions. It tells you how long to wait before applying the next coat of paint. For the type I bought (Rustoleum Camo paint), it said at least a half hour between coats. So, you lay down your base coat, and wait a half hour. Lay down your brown coat, wait a half hour. Lay down your green blobs, wait a half hour. Etc etc etc...
I look forward to seeing it! (Don't forget to mask off the insides of your marker, when you disassemble it! You don't want paint on the inside!)

Here's the latest on my marker. I'm not sure how it will show up, but I hand painted the Tippmann lettering on the side of the marker...I painted that black.

Okay, I'll let you all in on what people do to real guns. For about $20 you can Gun Blue or Gun Brown your marker once you've removed the paint. You put on the dye, put it in the oven for a little while at a certain temperature (read the instructions) and it will look great. I haven't done this to my Tippy, but I have seen it done to steel guns and steel helmets. You might want to try it. Head down to a gun shop to see what a browned gun looks like.
