Paintball Safety, April 2006: The Importance Of Eye Protection

Paintball equipment runs the gamut, from markers to eye wear. Why is eye protection so important in paintball? One paintball player discovers the need for a paintball mask the hard way. He stood in the "players' area" behind the field netting. He didn't have his paintball mask on. He wanted to watch the game better, so he pressed his face against the netting. THWACK! A paintball hit the net and pushed the netting onto his eye.

Stand off from the netting by 10 feet or more. Otherwise, put your mask on!

Seeing the game is not as important as seeing, period!

Netting that stops a paintball does not always stop splatter with bits of shell, or spray. Stand back from netting, or put your mask on!

Netting will not always stop every paintball. Regular inspection, repairs, or replacement is important.
