Monty Python Paintball: The Holy Grail Comes to Life in a Wild Scenario Game
EMR Paintball Park has hosted an annual "Quest for the Holy Grail" scenario game for over 10 years,. The scenario paintball game is based loosely on the Monty Python movie. EMR is in the Endless Mountain region of Pennsylvania and offers great paintball fun. How does EMR consistently deliver an excellent paintball scenario experience?
Remember, ye lads and lasses, how it was when Arthur, King of the Britons, sought knights to join him in Camelot. Sir Galahad, Sir Bedevere, Sir Lancelot...but what's this? Do they not want to be in Camelot? Find ye the Holy Grail! Beware the Killer Rabbit, unless ye have a holy handgrenade (or if he's filling air tanks). Seek the Castle Arrgghh for the secrets to the Holy Grail. But then-you'll have to get through the French soldiers, if you can! For over 10 years, EMR Paintball Park has hosted an annual "Quest for the Holy Grail" scenario game, based, loosely, on the Monty Python movie. EMR is in the Endless Mountain region of Pennsylvania and offers great paintball fun. King Arthur (Blue) and his Krazy Kaniggets bring the Quest for the Holy Grail to the Knights and the Peasants. Who might you see? The Scared Sir Robin, for one, and the Knights Who Say Nee (the Ferrymen Paintball Team). Look closely for The Black Beast of Aarrgh (Michael "Meph" Murphy), and all his special talents. What would a battle be without the Frenchmen, and without the Maidens of Castle Anthrax, though the Maidens (Carter's Commandos) are a powerful force. Tales remain from the Quest of not all that long ago, when, due to a problem with the delivery of the paintgrenades, the White Rabbit, usually portrayed by Bobby Balstad, diligently worked the air station! That year, as unpredictable as the outcome of any quest, the weather proved wet. A decent amount of April rain fell during the game orientation and through the morning. This did not stop the hardy paintball players, though, and the game fun rolled on. Throughout the fields, players could keep a steady outlook for props. Placed by the field staff, some earned points, and some could be traded for prizes. Luck counts as much as skill in finding these props! The big search? For the elusive "Holy Grail"! This silver cup, placed somewhere on the field, would yield the finder a special prize. The Frenchmen Almost from the beginning of the game, players seemed intent on attacking the Frenchmen located in Fort Worr. Not only paint came down on those that tested the defense of the Frenchman's Castle, but also stuffed animals rained from the sky. Any unsuspecting player getting close to the castle walls might be thumped with a stuffed animal! If a stuffed animal hit you, you were eliminated. After countless attacks on the fort, many players sought out the "Shrubber", who roamed the fields and sold the sacred shrubbery. Coins found on the field, or earned through props found on the field, could be the way players could purchase shrubberies. Once you owned shrubberies, you could acquire the services of the Knights Who Say Nee. For a shrubbery, players could use the Knights Who Say Nee for 20-minute intervals. Of course, after 20 minutes...watch your back! After being acquired numerous times to assist with the attacks on the Frenchman, the Knights Who Say Nee were ready to turn on any player who asked them to attack Fort Worr again! The Lovely Maidens Over at Castle Anthrax, the "lovely" Maidens were all work and some play. These were, indeed, some of the homeliest maidens you would ever set your eyes upon. The rain stopped in the early afternoon and the sky was overcast. In the warm spring weather, the battles grew ever more fierce. Players quickly re-inserted into the game by walking off the field and then "tagging-up" at their base, so the game seemed endless. This is a key element of any scenario game, the endless game play. By 4:30 p.m., the game had slowed. By 6 p.m., it was time to hang out and talk game stories. After Action Toasts and raised goblets to a great day of play! Pat Strode was the lucky finder of the Holy Grail. He won a new BT-4 marker from Ben Tippmann Products, an Evil Jersey and gloves, and a PMI pack from PMI and EMR Paintball Park. The crew at EMR Paintball Park, Pennsylvania, welcomes players year 'round. Blue, Sue "WOB" Hanse, and Chris "Deuce" Hanse provide big games throughout the year, including vendors, nationally known scenario teams, and hundreds or even thousands of players at the Castle.
