"Old School" SUMO 4+1 fanny pack.
The Redz has space for 200 more rounds but no remote pouch.
Marker Setup:
Vector with custom trigger and some internal work (thanks Justin).
Drop forward with Java 68in adjustable nitrogen
Ricochet AK
Strengths:
*No slip. Unlike other packs, this thing stays put well!
*Surprisingly comfy
*Fairly easy to retreive tubes
*FANTASTIC customer service. How many times does the owner contact you? Also, they were kind enough to fedex my pack when there was an error. No extra charge and no complaining at all by Redz. Kudos to owner and staff!
*Quality construction. I can tell this thing will last as long as I do in the sport.
Weaknesses:
*Price. But excellent quality dosen't come cheap. Just ask Angel owners.
*Mine came with those extra flaps to hold 2 extra tubes. I swiftly removed them with an exacto. I don't see me using the full capacity as it is let alone 2 more additional tubes worth.
*The tops of the pouches were sewn together. This made most of the pods I tried EXTERMELY difficult to get in all the way and almost impossible to reload when in game situations. (I surgically seperated the triplets promptly after the removal of the extra tube flaps)
*Horizontal loader is tricky to get to
Conclusion:
I placed a few things in the bad column but I have also fixed 2 of the 4. I can't do much about price and I'm not a contortionist so the horizontal pouch is strictly cosmetic for me.
However, I feel the good far outweighs the bad here and I'm going to stick with this system for some time. If and when I replace it, I know exactly where to look again and I won't mind paying the extra $ for quality construction and superior service. You can tell this equipment was built by players for players and not by a guy in a suit. That is an important thing to keep in mind anytime you shop paintball equipment. Keep up the good work Redz.
Comfortable
Holds plenty of paint for the mid or front player
Comfortable
Never bounces around when you run
Cinches up tight if you want it to, but fits well loose too
Acts as a sort of back support belt
Did I mention it is comfortable?
Weaknesses:
Cost, but mostly since you have to buy the belt and the pack seperately
Conclusion:
I have been playing paintball for years without a true harness. To tell the truth, I've never even played in many games where I had to use more than a hopper full of paint. But now that I'm getting started in tourney play, I decided to invest in a good pack. And that's exactly what you do when you buy a Redz -- think of it as an investment in your paintball future. When I first started using this pack, it was so comfortable that I forgot I had it on, literally! Since I forgot I had it on, I also forgot I had three pods full of paint in it to reload with. It was pretty funny.
Comfy, durable, pods are easy to get in & out. The comfort belt is seriously nice. Very durable, firm. It feels like a back brace, and I would rather play with it on than without it. The pockets are all sewn together, so no pod will stick out at all. That won't mean much to most speedballers, but when you're trying to work you way through thick brush or bamboo, it's a godsend. The newer versions have 2 hidden elastic loops that you can pull out to hold a total of 6 pods, which is like 20$-30$ of paint including your hopper.
Weaknesses:
The price is higher than most packs (after adding up belt and pack). the horizontal pod may be hard to get out if you place hte pack to high on your waist.
Conclusion:
I have used several packs, and this is the most expensive one yet. However, the difference in quality is very noticeable. You really get your moneys worth. This is without a doubt the sweetest pack I have used, and I have gotten rid of all my others after switching to Redz. For anyone looking for the best in durability or comfort I recommend wholeheartedly the Redz. This smaller pack is great for front players, or rec players that like to have plenty of paint on hand. I do not give out 10s easily, for me something must really be the best in its class to get a 10. These are. Note- I have not used Unique packs, they are reputed to be of equal class (and also equal price). I would still stick with Redz because the comfort belt system gives you more flexibility.
