| Strengths: |
This product is very well made and has a great company backing it up. |
 |
| Weaknesses: |
This marker is a standard blowback marker with all of the same quirks. |
 |
| Review: |
This marker is extremely well made and, if looks are important to you, this marker does not fail to please. Out of the box, this marker is as complete as it could ever really be. Comes stock at low pressure, flush rear cocking, a very good regulator for CO2 users and a rear velocity adjuster.
The marker runs at low pressure, approximately 350 psi. This is very good considering it is a standard open bolt, blowback marker. In practical terms this means you can use more kinds of paint then your friend can in his shutter because the lower gas pressure is easier on brittle shells (i.e. you get less breaks in the breech and/or in the barrel). This is possible due to the all new internals that PMI put in the 2k3 edition of the Piranha. The regulator is easy to adjust, however the guage goes up to 1500 psi. This is not a problem, but it does make fine tuning the pressure a bit of a hassle as the difference between 300psi and 400psi (the gun's optimal operating range) is only one seperation. The guage ought to only go up to 800psi because any pressure higher than that should never be on any paintball marker, no matter what it is.
The gun fires very smoothly, but I do not like the stock trigger frame. The frame is a polymer of some kind where I would have prefered an aluminum frame. PMI says these trigger frames are extremely durable, even more so than their old aluminum ones, explaining the switch in materials. The frame does feel very solid and I do not doubt the polymer's strength, I simply have a personal preference to a metal trigger frame.
Of particular note is the marker's stock barrel. It is only a stock barrel, have no hopes of anything else, but for what it is, I found the stock barrel to be a solid performer. |
 |
| Conclusion: |
An over all solid marker, great for beginners and intermediate players. I consider myself an intermediate to advanced player and I still feel comfortable behind this marker. It is a solid performer and I would recommend it over any other Spyder-like marker. |

| Review: |
I'm a regular at my local field, and good friends with the owners. The field i play at has 30 Tippmann 98 Customs for rent, but they recently got a new business partner who bought 30 brand new PMI Piranha EXT 2k3'S for field rental as well.
The field has woodsball and speedball so the thought was that the tippy's would be rented to the woodsballers, and the Piranha's would be rented to the speedballers.
After 2 weeks of renting these markers the owners were overloaded with players returning to the pro-shack with problems with these markers.
Many of them had the exact same problem:
After 5 shots there's no velocity left - It was discovered that the Regs in these markers are pieces of junk. I personally spent hours with the owners trying to adjust these regs only to find that no matter which way you turned the adjustment screw nothing happened. We finally had to resort to disassembling the regs to discover that the valve pins would get stuck and have to be jarred loose so they could move when you adjusted the screw. This is a problem that has to be addressed somewhat often.
The gauges are pieces of junk - Several of the markers had defective gauges, they either read incorrectly, they break alltogether, or they leak. There was one marker that was brought in that was consistently leaking through the gauge, air was escaping though the gauge out the pinhole in the face cover. One of the younger refs made the mistake of putting tape over the pinhole thinking that it would stop the leak. After less than a minute, so much pressure built up in the gauge that the entire face blew off and made quite a loud bang. Everyone thought his marker had blown up or something.
Chopping paint - This one is 50/50 some people were managing to overshoot the hopper which is why they were chopping, but others were getting balls stuck in the feedneck and their paint was getting chopped. once they chopped a ball they couldn't shoot anything but lava until they completely cleaned the marker out. The barrel also had a tendency to be a sponge to broken paint and would have to be thoroughly cleaned and squeegeed before it would work properly again.
The marker was flimsy - People were getting a little to excited and dropping the markers, and it was a good bet that once they dropped it, it was acting up. This occurred in 8 out of 10 cases, and the markers would have to be stripped and given a good once over before they would seem to work correctly again.
When people didn't suffer these problems the markers seemed to work as well as any other marker, but in my opinion when over 15 of 30 markers had problems right out of the box and didn't work until hours of work was spent fixing them, and they are breaking quite often when they get juggled around a little, there's a serious design or manufacture problem.
|
 |
| Conclusion: |
I really can't recommend this marker to a new player. It requires alot of work out of the box to get working right, and it requires alot of upkeep to keep it working well. If you don't know this marker inside and out and you don't baby this marker you will spend more time working on it than playing with it. |

| Review: |
This is a very good gun. I play with it alot and dont mind being seen with it by my friends who have "autocockers" and better guns then me b.c I know this gun wont let me down. I also like the new "Venturi Anti Chop Bolt" it very good and so far out of 1,000 paintballs only like 2 poped, so thats good results for a gun that's under $200. |
 |
| Conclusion: |
If your limit is $200 for a gun, this would be the gun to get, not only it looks good with its 2k3 body but it also performs good. |

| Review: |
When I first got this gun, I was excited to go out and test it right away. To my surprise, the stock barrel performed very well [compared to other stock barrels] After I used it in a couple of games though the reg stopped working. I was disappointed, but pmi just sent me a new regulator in just a 9 days. I anti siphoned my tank, and the new regulator worked perfectly. Overall, this is a great rec marker, and is well worth the money. It out performed my friends tippman, and a pmi gti. This is the perfect gun for a rec player. P.S. The imagine is also good, and you will like either. And if you are using C02, anti siphon your tank. |
 |
| Conclusion: |
This is a great marker for rec players, and I recommend it to anyone who wants to spend as little as $90. This is a great marker for the money, and you will not be disappointed. |

| Review: |
This was my gun for 2 years and now that i have gave it to my brother i though i can write a review abot it. This thing took abuse, i never lubed the bolt and now its scratched to crap but its still running strong. The plastic trigger was terrible IMO, so i got the metal one and it didnt make much diference, just looked better. It was an alright gun but leaked alot of times due to the reg, but overall it was good. |
 |
| Conclusion: |
Good gun if your 6 months into pball or so, but if you keep playing speedball you will realize you cant keep this thing forever 8/10 |

20oz co2, anti-syphon+on/off

A barrel would be the first thing I suggest, the stock barrel is ok, but it's not the best.
A new guage for the reg is also very usefull. The stock one goes way too high. |
 |
 |
 |
 |
| Strengths: |
Very good LP out of the box. Good ROF out of the box. |
 |
| Weaknesses: |
Stock guage sucks. Safety spring not held in when grip is off, easily lost. |
 |
| Review: |
This marker runs at 350psi with no mods. Thats just awesome. I haven't been able to get it to chop paint. It just pinches it. Jam clears as soon as you pull back on the cocking knob. I was unfortunate to get a gun with a stripped trigger frame screw. PMI's customer service fixed it right away and all is well. This gun runs fine on co2 once you get an anti-syphon. The reg is decent, not as good as a palmer, but good enough. The stock barrel is awesome compared to pretty much any other stock barrel. It's still not as good as almost any aftermarket though.
Sofar I only have three complaints about this gun. One, the ram air chamber on the front sticks up so far it doesn't give much clearance between it and the barrel. If you aren't careful it will scratch a lovely ring on your barrel. Second, I would like a bigger cocking knob, my fat fingers have a hard time gripping the current one with gloves on. Third, the guage that comes with it goes up to 1500psi with marks every 100psi. PMI recommends 500psi, most people I've seen can get theirs down to 350 with no sweat. This isn't really important, it would just be nice to see a 550-600psi guage come stock. |
 |
| Conclusion: |
For under $200 you really can't go wrong with a piranha. If you have the extra $20 and can, I'd say get the eforce ext pro. If you can't use electric for one reason or another, go with regular ext pro. This gun is perfect for newbs who don't want to spend hundreds getting their gun up to par. Great gun, equal customer service from PMI.
I am giving this gun a 9 simply because there is some room for improvment. |

| Review: |
To start with, this marker by is the best value for the money. Straight out of the box this thing can keep up with most markers on the field. The barrel is extra long and shoots really straight. It comes with a ton of extras (just read the product description). I haven't seen any major problems. The stock springs were quit weak and only shot @ about 175fps. So I spent $9 and got a set of 4. Problem solved....I only got a second barrel because the field I bought mine at through it in for free. I haven't added an electronic hopper yet, but I will when I can. This marker is fast and the extra feed would keep me from chopping. (Like I said, this thing is fast.) I will be adding an e-grip, but this thing doesn't need it. (I'm just getting one ultra cheap. |
 |
| Conclusion: |
Buy it. For $150 this will out perform ANY marker under $500.00 with a few CHEAP upgrades. |

Well i waited a llong time for this gun to come in the mail they were back ordered when i got it! This was my first real paintball gun! The first thing I really noticed when I first shot with it was how quiet it was. This gun makes hardly any noise. The next thing is that its really comfortable to hold. Its compact which is nice, and light so its easy to run with.
Weight: About 2 pounds, around 5 with paint and air
Length:Around 10 inchs without a barrel
Quietness: 8
Workmanshilp: 9
Custumer service: 10
consistancy : 7
Speed: 12 bps with a fast finger
Reliability: 10 (hasn't let me down yet)
|
 |
| Conclusion: |
As a intermediate player I like this gun. It is easy to fix, and maintain. As long as you treat her right she'll treat you right also. I named her Liz. If you need a new gun and are familiar with the sport (not a newbie) then this gun is worth it. If your not going to play paintball too much then you should get a cheaper gun. |
