Review: This is by far the best marker I have ever shot. It is Uber consistent, +/- 3 fps, extremely efficient. It is also by far the fastest marker I have shot. I can get strings of 16+ bps (verified on chrono), and that is saying a lot because I don't exactly have the fastest fingers. The consistency and the efficiency both improve after the break in period. Some people dislike that they have a break in period, but they still rock without even being broken in. It is solidly built, and the anno is supposed to be very hard to scratch. The eyes are cheap ($20), but the new featherlites come with them. All the performance of a Viking with half a pound less weight. And it is backed up by a LIFETIME warranty from AKA. What else can I say?
Conclusion: If you are looking for a viking, but they aren't flashy or light enough for you, this is an excellent choice.

Weaknesses: Some may consider it bulky
Review: I thought my Abomb intimidator "Sexbomb" for short, was amazing paint hurling machine. That thing just ripped all day long without breaking or running into low air problems. I then bit my bottom lip and traded that for this beautiful AKA marker. I must say, this is much better then any gun i have ever owned, and is leauges better then my abomb for many reasons. This gun gets around 1500 shots on a full fill from my 45 45. AKA's effecientcy claims are true AND modest. No gun i ahve ever owned comes close, witht he exception of the cyborg which is fairly close.

SPEED-
I recently installed Tadao M5. Wow, i went out back and just shot a real rope of paint and didnt chop once. tadao enables the gun to show what it is really capable of. WAS and Pandora are great boards, but are nothing in comparison with Tadao with all its great modes, settings, ramp options, ABS, AMB, Dwell, Delay, Eye modes, etc, etc, etc.

Relibilty-
This gun will never fail you and if it does, it is a fairly easy fix unless you have no clue about how a paintball marker works. Matriices, DM3 and DM4, are gas and grease hogs always needing to be lubed. Timmys will let you down unless your OCD about maintaining it, angels are just confusing. This gun shoots between 60 and 70 PSI from the SCM, yes all 2004 vikings and excals have the greatest LPR as a stock feature.
DO NOT ATTEMPT TO TAKE THE GUN APART OR YOU ARE IN FOR HELL! Just dont bother going inside the gun unless you are changing boards or adjusting the trigger or replacing a simple oring. These guns are very complex and you should almost never have to take them apart and if you do, expect to shell out money when you send it to AKA or DC.

The stock vikings are very cimple as far as milling goes. The featherlight milling gives the gun a much nicer shape and makes it look much better. Make sure you get a very nice anno job to complement the milling though.

Price- these will not go for less then 1000 even used, but you can pick up a stock unmilled or half milled viking for 500.

I ahve shot and owned many guns and this is by far the best. I didnt think my abomb could be topped, but this gun out does it by miles. AKA is a great company and they are all for the most part, good people as well as the guys in the AKA forums. Do yourself a favor and pic up a viking and shell out another 100 on tadao. You will not regret it.
Conclusion: People that trash AKA and vikings obviously never shot one. They are great guns that bring together some really amazing feature all in one gun.

Marker came with WAS board. I might try the Tadao
Strengths: INCREDIBLE Efficiency
INCREDIBLE Consistancy
EASY Maintenance
LIFETIME WARRANTY!!!!
Weaknesses: No Longer being made.
Review: When I first saw a viking at the field I didn't really notice it UNTIL the person who owned it started to rip constant ropes of paint with it and I was on the recieving end!!! I talked to the person who owned it and asked him if I could try his viking for a game. He was nice enough to oblige. THIS THING RIPS!!! I loved the feel of the way it shot.

I purchased my own featherlight viking (used). After owning this marker for about 3 months I was in awe the efficiency I was getting (about 1 case for 68/4500). The consistancy (FPS) I was getting over the chrony was damned excellent (+/- 2fps). Also, the Viking is the easiest marker I had to maintain. THIS MARKER NEVER NEEDS TO BE GREASED. Just a couple of drop of oil into the ASA and your done. The recoil of this marker is less than my speed 05 but a little more than my DM4. The dual-detents eliminate rollback problems I had with my SPEED05.

The viking is now my primary marker. I do not have to worry about running out of AIR (STOCK DM4) or rollback and chopping with my SPEED05.

THE BEST THING ABOUT THE VIKING IS THAT THIS SETUP IS BONE STOCK. I didn't have to buy a evolve kit to get its efficiency. I do not have to change a bolt to eliminate rollback. I can play with my viking stock and not worry about upgrades or performance.

Now I wish I could thank that guy who went to the field one day with his viking. I would have never thought of purchasing this marker without him.
Conclusion: I believe I got the best of ALL worlds with my viking.

EFFICIENCY
SPEED
CONSISTANCY
EXTREMELY LOW MAINTENANCE
LOW WEIGHT
LIFETIME WARRANTY
...AND...
LOOKS PRETTY GOOD

what else can you ask for?

Review: I just got my 03 Featherlite
I have a stiffi switch kit on it, no matter what people say about the control bores, it is extremely accurate.

Anyway
Firing:
-QUIET!!! Teammates said they could definetally hear me a lot better over the marker
-Fast
-Consistant
-Very light trigger pull
-Easy on paint, mine pinches, never chop (I use a halo normally)
-Little recoil
-Mine will occasionally run-away... not a good thing, but debounce settings take care of that
-Super-efficent

Looks/feel
-Sexy!
-Relatively light
-03 stickies make it extremely comfortable, never had stock ones so I dont know
-30* milling looks very good to me, and it isnt too deep to maintain (like a dragon timmy)
-I like the trigger frame, not fat like an Emag/clamshell
-Very well balanced

Others:
-Get one WITH eyes. Can't put eyes on one that isn't milled for it.
-I prefer a rechargeable battery, but it is nice to be able to swap out
-Sidewinder is great.. very few UPgrades to the marker
-Need a toolkit to work on it -> circlip pliers can work, but be careful
-Being able to reverse the bolt and dryfire is also a cool feature
-An LCD screen, or LED like a Speed would be nice..
-Unlike Eblades/Intimidators, not everyone has a viking, and the JMJ's are even more rare
-Cost, a little bit new, trade/get one used
Conclusion: If you dont like how a standard vike looks, or weight, pick up one of these.
Get one while you can, FSP! (sp= smart parts, you figure it out)

I love mine, very easy on paint, very fast

Strengths: fast as hell, very accurate, very light, custom anodizing is sweet, low pressure gun
Weaknesses: there is none, except maybe the price. I payed over $1100 for mine.
Review: This is an excellent gun for any tourney playa who likes to shoot alot. This gun also has sweet milling and anodizing colors. Tis gun is made to shoot very good under low pressure. You can adjust the pressure at about 60-65 psi and it's shoot great. This gun has an excellent trigger job and is very durable and light. Hell it is featherlight.
Conclusion: This is an excellent gun for a tourney playa. It's loaded with it's great rate of fire, accuracy, weight, and good looks. You can also asjust the ROF with a program. They come stock at about 12 BPS. A little spendy BUT it's worth it.

Marker Setup: My main gun is a 2004 JMJ Concepts Featherlight Viking black to orange fade (rare) With powerlyte scepter barrel system (better than freak) 684500 armegeddon waiting to put a 45 or 47ci on it.
Recommended
Upgrades:
Barrel system is a must and halo or reloader B is a must if you like to shoot fast
Strengths: Fastest gun made. consistant accurate. nothing else to say its just that good
Weaknesses: Break in period. 10 000 shots. it is alot of $ but totally worth it.
Review: Fast...INSANELY fast. I set up the trigger to roughly .08mm pull. With debounce on 2 or 3 it still dosnt bounce. After break in period u can lower the cocking pressure and there is pretty much zero kick. Easy for meitnence. Dosnt really need the service tool. You can get by with hand tools.

Looks. It looks awesome. You can get it in just about any fade u want color u want or even acid washed. Milling was one of the best ive seen and anno job was spectacular. This gun isnt really about looks. If u want a gun with looks go with a timmy or something else. This gun is all about business. If you wan the most accurate most consistant gun money can buy you need to get a viking. Preferabley a featherlight viking.

Eyes work perfectly. Only had 2 barrel breaks so far. (practice paint) Dual Detents work perfecly.

It does have a strong trigger pull. but its not that much once its broken in. and the trigger can be adjusted to about .08mm...yes .08mm of a pull. INSANE
Conclusion: if u weigh the strenghs they far out weigh the weakneses. The weakneses arnt really weakneses. Out of the box it is ready to rock. but it might need a trigger job and programming depending on your setup. once broken in and programmed right u can yes CAN out shoot a halo and or reloader B. And they do not make them any more so it is very rare. And u get a life time warranty from AKA which makes some of the best stuff out there. Get this gun if u want pure performance. if i wasnt picky this gun would be a 10.

Lightweight barrel of choice. The Javelin is HEAVY. Everything else is already the best upgrade on the market.
Strengths: Consistent, lightweight, work-of-art looks, more efficient than _________ (insert marker of choice).
Weaknesses: Price ($1400), needs a $50 tool to service it
Review: JMJ has taken the meaty Viking and pared it down to a much more manageable size. Even though this gun is bigger than my B2K3, it still manages to be lighter. The Pandora board has better eye logic than Chaos boards of the past, but I'm still not real thrilled about the un-regulated first shot when you turn the gun on (the first trigger pull will always fire, ball or no ball), and the factory setting has a dwell that is too low resulting in FSDO. This is easily fixed by upping the dwell to at least 8 ms (I use 10 ms).

The look and finishing of this gun is top notch. I've seen plenty of $1600 guns that looked like they were finished by child laborers, but the Featherlite isn't one of them. These guns are meticulously polished by skilled machinists who exhibit pride in their work. (a rarity these days) The anodizing scheme on my particular gun makes it look as though it were drawn from the fires of a volcano which, while not being the sole reason for my purchase, was certainly a deciding factor in it.

I had heard stories of the legendary Viking efficiency before, but have now had a chance to experience it. I shot half a case on half of a 68/45 fill in a tournament recently before I topped my bottle off again, (I'd rather not test the extent of it's efficiency in a tournament) and played out the rest of the tournament on that fill.

My gun is setup without any bounce, and it shoots as fast as I can walk the trigger. It needed a trigger job in order to reduce the force pull so that a light tap would set it off, but that was easy enough. The Pandora also comes with several, low debounce settings for those who don't mind getting DQ'ed for a cheating gun.

The consistency still hasn't settled in yet, but it gets more and more consistent each time I use it. The Sidewinder has a mysterious ringing sound after firing, almost like a tuning fork. I'm not sure if this is relevant or not, but it is a little odd.
Conclusion: There aren't very many of these babies left. AKA still offers a lifetime warranty on them, and isn't going away anytime soon, so now is the time to pony up and get one. This gun represents the apex of perfection for one of paintball's most venerable marker designs.

Recommended
Upgrades:
you will need a halo b or egg, a bottomline setup, and a hpa tank....if your Jim Drew hater and his WaS board then go for the Pandora Board
Strengths: Fast, reliable, efficient, custom made, easy to use, and AKA forum at pbnation
Weaknesses: Not making them anymore...but that makes it more special to have one
Review: After dropping 1500 on this beast I knew that most people would call me crazy. But out of all the guns out there, I chose this one because one I had tried everything else out there, two my teamate has one and loves it, three it just out right rips/hoses the field, and four (the one reason that convinced me) was I was able to get it annodized anyway I wanted it. What made this one cost so much more was of course the annodizing scheme of my choice and it was custom made by hand at JMJ concepts which they take original viking bodies and cut them down to featherlights which weight in at 2.23 lbs or so.

Performance:
With the was board and upgraded 1.6 software (NO FSDO).....this gun just rips....at debounce 6, I thought I was shooting fast....then realized I can put it all they way up to debounce 3 and holy shiet, I was making lazers of paint easily without it being illegal in tournaments (debounce 1 thats just not even fair....people walk off if they hear you have that on). With the stock javelin barrel, accuracy is pretty much dead on and anyone on the recieving end is in deep shiet. I play with confidence with any gun but this thing just makes me play/feel like a god.

Efficiency:
I easily get over a 1200 shots with my 88/3000 tank and I can only imagine what I could get with a 4500 conquest system that im looking into (you can shoot a case of paint with a 4500).

Relaibiltiy:
I fell on top of this gun running towards the snake and I pretty much slammed my gun on the ground.....picked it up (no scratches due to the type 3 solid anti-scratch annodizing) and the gun was still functioning...unfortunately the paint in the halo was cracked and a mess....but bottomline the gun was not even scathed, best word to describe it is a "TANK"

Cost:
For what I paid for...OUCH! (but I saved and worked hard for this thing).....but when I step onto the field....I get a lot of respect and the other team is always trying to gun for you
Conclusion: Lifetime warranty with AKA, and the viking is indestructable as proven with my experience. This is the type of tourny gun you have to read up on and compare it to whats out there (Its not for everyone). I knew I wanted this since january of 2004 and it took me a couple months and a few weeks to finally have it. I'm definitely happy with my choice and its never gonna be for sell or for trade because I had a say on what it was gonna look like. You can't do that with any other gun out there unless you break down the gun and have it shipped out to the annodizer which in the end is a lot more money than you ever wish to spend/possibility the gun can be over done with stripping and destroyed. Oh yeah last thing...good luck finding one...im sure JMJ concepts is done by now as I've heard there last batch was done at the annodizers.

Upgrades:
The wicked air sports eyes and jmj eye cover are the best thing you can do for this gun. They cost 20 an 50 bucks respectively and make the gun insanely fast and virtually eliminated chopping. You can run any hopper but I recommend a Halo or egg, they'll both work great. That an any screw in nitro tank (besides pure energy) and a barrel kit, your set.
Strengths: Light, VERY fast, best eyes, efficent and sexy
Weaknesses: 4 week wait if you order it new, but it's worth it
Review: This gun is amazing. It's faster than the timmy, matrix, angel and impulse and more efficent than any of them. I get over half a case off my 45/4500, and have yet to chop a ball with the eyes installed. It's very low kick right and spits out streams of paint with ease. Once it's broken in I can have the LPR lowered to smooth out the cycling even more, it generally takes about 5 cases of paint. This gun also comes with a type 3 annodizing which is very hard to scratch, though I'm not going to be the one to test it. Another nice feature is the fact that you can turn the bolt around to dry fire it and get many more cycles from your fill. That helps a lot in the initial break in period, and makes dry firing quieter.

The W.A.S. equalizer board is also amazing, all the programming you need is through the trigger and LED light. You can even set the gun to a debounce of 1 and get a little 30 bps bouncing going. Not only that but a 9 volt seems to last forever.

Conclusion: I love this gun, if your looking between this and any other gun, go for this. It's faster, more efficent, rarer, and just better than anything out there.
