This guide pin slides inside the guide pin on the bolt carrier and reduces the misalignment of the hammer and carrier. This miss-alignment is the causes overdue friction, that scraping added scraping sound and the grayish powder in the oil.
This mod is the most important one, and carries with it more benefits than any of the others. The benefits of this mod are:
Reduces or eliminates the friction and drag of the bolt carrier and hammer movement, which eliminates the grayish residue in the oil.
Quieter gun operation. The scraping noise is greatly reduced or eliminated.
The exhaust fittings can be removed. You can do this because of the greatly reduced ram friction.
