New 32 Degrees star fire bolt for the newer style Tippmann 98's paintball gun(yes it does work for the custom). It also works for the Tippmann A-5 This bolt will improve accuracy by allowing the air to release evenly throughout the gun it also reduces ball breakage and increases performance. Note: this bolt is not recommended for use with the Flatline barrel.
Product Availability
The 32 Degrees Star Fire Bolt is older, so while it may be available used and in a few cases new, it is not commonly available anymore.

Review: I've seen this item and many of its similar parts made by other companies. I've heard good things about them, and I’ve heard bad things about them. I finally decided one day that I’d drop the $12 on one, and see if it works as good or as bad as people say it does.

Quality of Product:

When it arrived in the mail the first thing I noticed was that the O-Ring on the bolt was further back than the stock bolt. On the stock bolt the o ring is within millimeters of the tip of the bolt. On the Star Fire bolt, the O-Ring is just a tad forward of the center. At first I was a little curious as to the location, and why it had changed from the original design. Then I noticed that the O-Ring could not have been put any further forward due to the Star Fire milling in the bolt. If the outer casing had been milled for the O-Ring it would have gone through the star fire milling and ruined the bolt.

Installation:

Piece of cake, just field strip the gun, remove the old bolt and put the new one in. It took me about a minute to take the marker apart, 5 seconds to swap the bolts, and another minute to put it back together.

Fit to Gun:

The bolt fits well and seemed to slide well, there was no problem with the O-Ring being further back on the bolt that I could see when in installed it.

Performance:

2 days after I installed the bolt myself and a buddy went out in my backyard and put about 200 rounds through my marker onto a tree target to see how well it performed. I must say that I was amazed by the performance. I had noticed an improvement in accuracy when I got my new barrel, then when I got my expansion chamber, and I did again that day when I added the star fire bolt. My grouping was dead on at 40 feet, every round was either in the same place, or at the most less than an inch away. We varied our shooting from single shots up to 5-8 BPS and the bolt didn't chop a single paintball. I can't wait to try this out in the field. Even my buddy was debating getting one for his A-5.

Negative:

When I got out to the field to play, I was telling everyone that I had the star fire bolt in my marker, and they all wanted to see how it worked, so I shot at a target about 30-40 feet away and was really accurate. They were all impressed. Then we went to chrono for the day. I COULD NOT get my marker to chrono over 260fps. I tried everything I could, but it was just not happening. And when it came time to play, I realized that I had degraded performance at longer ranges over 45 feet, and had to play at a disadvantage because of that.

When I got home I field stripped my marker and swapped the stock bolt back in. The next time I played my marker was back to normal it was chrono’ing at 302fps and I had to turn it down to 285fps. I lost a tiny bit of accuracy, but it was worth the loss to get my range back. Needless to say I will NOT be putting the star fire bolt back in my marker.
Conclusion: If you want improved accuracy at the sacrifice of velocity than this is your product. If you want range then i'd avoid this product like the plage and just get an X-Chamber.

Stock Bolt on my Tipp 98C
Marker Setup: --Tippmann 98C
--Flatline barrel
--Response Trigger
--Halo TSA hopper (220 ball capacity)
--30mm Red Dot sight from BSA
-- FX ProTeam colapsible stock
--Star Fire bolt
--Remote setup w/ 20oz CO2
--Paint used: Draxxus Inferno & Evil
Strengths: --Decreases ball breaks.
--Improves Accuracy.
Weaknesses: Slight imperfection inside the bolt had to be removed.
Review: I was very pleased with the performance of this bolt after I removed the imperfection in the plastic from the hole inside the bolt.
There was a slight inferfection in the inside of the bolt causing it not to be as smooth when compared with the stock bolt. I removed the imperfection with a little knife and now the smoothness is comparable with the stock bolt.

I've played woodball and speedball with this bolt installed. I always use good paint that matches my flatline barrel, but you can always break balls on impact of the bolt, rather than in the barrel.
Even with excelent paint I would break 5 or 6 balls per case (2000). With this bolt installed and using this same paint (mixture of Draxxus Inferno & Evil) I shot 2300 balls without one single break. I got very happy.
This bolt hugs the ball while pushing it into the barrel due to its concave shape.
Imagine that the O is the ball.
The stock bolt hits the ball like this: ___| O
This bolt hits it like this: ___( O

This bolt also improved my accuracy in short distances. Accurracy at 100ft or more is not good anyway independently of the bolt. My ball groupings are much closer now than w/ the stock bolt.

This was a $12 piece of plastic...and I didn't have to clean my flatline at all during a whole day of play.
This is as close to heaven as paintball performance can be!!!

I give this a 9 because I had to use a sharp knife to cut a plastic imperfection inside the bolt, otherwise I would have given it a 10. I still don't understand why in this product's description it says that it is not recomended for the flatline. It works great with it.
Conclusion: Its cheap, improves speedball accuracy (short distance), and the most important of all, it greatly reduces ball-breaks deep in the barrel where it is always hard to clean.

Weaknesses: Haven't found any.
Review: I saw this, and say "hey, a bolt that cups the ball" picked it up for $5 on ebay with shipping and installed it. Took it out back and started shooting at 30 feet, and slowly worked my way back to 90 feet, was very impressed by the performance over the stock bolt and would tell anyone getting a 98 that they should get one of these and install it.
Conclusion: I would have to say check ebay and grab it, works great great performance boost for the price

Doesn't Chop
Weaknesses: Doesnt work to well if gun turned up to high
Review: I was very excited when i put put it in. I thought it would be a good upgrade for 8 bucks, 20 with shipping. when i went 2 shoot it, my distance was horrible. i tried putting on the stock barrel and hammer, thinking that they were the problem. With the starfire in I was gettin a distance of 40 feet. I couldn't figure out the problem. I brought my gun to the shop, and they found a few problems. My gun wasn't olied enough, my velocity screw was to far out, and a few of my springs need replaceing. When i tried it out the next time, it worked like a dream. I could tell a slight increace in accuracy.
Conclusion: Its ok. Buy it if u like, you can always tell ur friends you have a better bolt than them, and it gives u a bit more accuracy.

Review: A definate buy, improves accuracy, saves a little gas, more durable. I have been using it for about 3 months and have noticed a great change in accuracy. For $15 this bolt is a must need for your marker. If your a Woods Baller/ Speed Baller/ Scenerio Baller, this bolt will fit your perfectly.
Conclusion: Many People talk bad things about this bolt, As a well trained Paint-baller I can tell if A product is B.S., Its Cheap and well worth it, Don't Listen to these other People on this site I would rate this bolt much higher than a 10 if i could.

Strengths: Improved accuracy kinda thats about it
Weaknesses: Low range no power kind of sucks
Review: At first i thought this would be pretty good since i already had an expansion chamber for my tippmann so i figured a star fire bolt would make it even more accurate than it was but i didnt realize that itd make the range drop a lot and when i tested it and used it i got p!ssed off when my friend would be just outta my range with the same gun and hed be wizzing them past my head at first i was kind of blind to the range thing and all that i was just thinking oh yeah its a lot more accurate and i didnt pay much attention but after about 20 games i started to realize and i was wondering why i bought it. Today i tested it with the starfire and the original bolt the starfire hit the target (a back board about 40 feet away)3 out of 5 times in a large scatter pattern not impressed and the range was around half my yard length(full length around 200 feet or so maybe more) and then i put the original bolt back on it and shot from the same distance and 5 out of 5 hit in a very tight group and i shot one down my back yard and it carried all the way to the end and hit the ground just before the fence and bounced away now at this point i was thinking what the hell did i buy it for but i figured id just sell it to this stupid kid i know with a custom for twice of what i paid for it so if u want a little bit of accuracy but loss of range get this u wont be dissapointed with the loss of range it works well in that department
Conclusion: In the end id only recommend this to someone who cant afford an expansion chamber and doesnt care about range but otherwise than that dont bother with it cause ull just end up putting the original bolt back on it

Review: I was amazed at the accuracy of my new bolt and am very glad i got it. I like the other reviewer could not getover 260fps but i have a a piece in my end cap with makes my spring tighter and i get my extra power there. Get upgrade for snipers like me. At 120 at can hit redbull can 9 for 10 without a scope (Seriously)
Conclusion: Get buy but if you want to keep your velocity put a piece of mechanical pencil eraser in your endcap. Great buy

Review: when i decided to upgrade my bolt one of my buds let me try his pro team hyperstar bolt, he said it was the best thing he'd ever used. well it is unless your runnin nitro with an rt. the hyperstar gets too loose when it starts firing anything over 10 bps and chops paint like crazy and any paint that does make it out, dont go straight. later on i was talking to another one of my buds who has an ebolt and he said he ran into the same prob but he found this star fire bolt from 32* and he said that the oring kept it straight and tight. i gotta be honest as soon as i heard 32* i said no way. we all know 32* aint the best stuff out there but im telling you they actually put some thought into this one. ever since i put it in my gun i been waitin for sumtin to go wrong but im tellin you this thing is great. no broke balls and i swear it does make a difference in accuracy from the first time you fire it. and i found the thing for $8. it dont get no better than that.
Conclusion: maybe if you dont have an rt the hyperstar will get the job done. but if your shootin anything other than stock firepower you need this.

Review: I showed up at the field and was chopping EVERY ball! Swapped several things out, still chopped. Swapped my venturi for the stock bolt and didn't have a problem (other than the fact my barrel was already full of paint from the bolt. I turned my velocity way down and it was still blowing up every ball. When I swapped out for the stock it was shooting 230 fps.
I'd love to give it another try, I don't know why but it wasn't working worth anything. Is there a way to fix it? I didn't have one ball make it out the end of my barrel while it was installed.
Conclusion: Crap

Review: Purchased online fairly cheap, I figured this would be the last upgrade I needed for my tippmann 98 and it could only enhance my set up, Wrong!! at the same time I also installed a new barrel to get a little better accuracy and thought the bolt would assist., Wrong!!

The paint would fly every way but straight. First thinking it was the barrel to paint match, I changed inserts, No help! I then put the stock bolt back in and my marker was back to performing flawlessly.
Conclusion: I would not recommend this bolt at all. I will be testing other bolts, but save your self the small amount this bolt costs and save up for something better.
