I bought this neck guard on ebay for super cheap ($5) after taking a paintball to the neck on one of my outings, and as soon as I put it on, I noticed that it restricted my neck movement just a little bit. This was uncomfortable at first but now it's fine. I also noticed that the material seemed a little thin to be protecting my neck but I cannot justify this because I haven't tried on any other neck guards. But overall, it's worked out great for me. It does promote bounces and should work well for the player looking for an inexpensive piece of protection.
Update: I just used this in a game, and my advice is not to put it on too tight. I chased a newbie down the field during a game, and it was sort of hard to breath because of the neck protector when i was out of breath. But I barely felt it on me when i was using it, so it was great otherwise.
Conclusion:
If you can find this for the price I got it at, go for it. It's a decent product, promotes bounces, and you don't have to worry so much about those painful neck shots.
