I got this out of looking for a way to make a low pressure 98 custom without using a vertical adaptor and t-fitting. It wasn't overly expensive, but it wasn't easy to find. The interior isn't entirely hallow like the volume chamber that comes with Tippmann's low pressure kit, so the volume isn't as high. However, it is a significantly higher airflow than the stock air line, so it does do it's job to a degree.
Compared to Tippmann's kit, using this volume chamber requires a slightly higher operating pressure, due to the lower volume. However, the marker will still operates at a significantly reduced pressure compared to the stock configuration. I don't have a gauge, but I didn't have to adjust the regulator I use with this chamber much, so I'm guessing I have my marker operating around 550 or 600 psi, compared to about 800 stock and about 350 or 400 with Tippmann's kit. This allows the marker to be used in the cold, when a co2 tank does not provide sufficient pressure to operate a high pressure marker. Also, when combined with a decent regulator, the low pressure configuration leads to greatly improved consistency, which translates into better precision. Efficiency also improved greatly. I can get over 700 shots from a 12 oz. tank.
On the downside, it was tough to find, and it is heavier than it needs to be. And this doesn't bother me, but you might find the air line gets in the way of using the chamber as a grip. Lastly, this part alone will not allow you to run your marker at low pressure. You need to modify the stock valve or use Tippmann's low pressure valve, and you need a regulator.

This is a great product for your tippmann 98 custom or model 98. You will not be disappointed and it wont let you down. There is only one thing that I found bad, but I wouldn't consider it a weakness, is that the braided hose is bent all weird and stuff. |
