The Function ASA with On/Off Direct Mount combines three separate parts into one: an Air Source Adaptor, mounting rail and On/Off with bleed valve. Nearly every other ASA on the market requires a dove-tail mount (a piece you normally have to buy seperately) as well as a rail to attach to the gripframe. It can cost anywhere from $55 to $80 in parts just to hook your air system onto your marker. <
That's the beauty of the Function ASA: it can mount directly to any grip frame equipped with standard 3/4" 10-32 mounting holes . . . no drop forward or dove tail needed!

On/Off button allows you to de-gas marker without removing the air system

The Function Paintball Direct Mount ASA is older, so while it may be available used and in a few cases new, it is not commonly available anymore.

I finally woke up one day and was welcomed to the wonderful world of direct mounts. I had been using drops that were 10 miles long and thought that they were awesome. Needless to say, I was wrong. Drops really screw your game up in ways noone can imagine. They throw off your aim, they are really uncomfortable, and they are fugly. Well, direct mounts are different in so many good ways. Get this, they attach DIRECTLY to your frame. Wow!
So let's get down to business!
-The button is so easy to press on and off. Players should have no problems using them while wearing gloves.
-It's small and easy to mount. That's right! It has a very small profile and uses only two screws to mount.
Well, I really can't think of anything else to say about it. It's great!
Better than any other direct mount on the market. I strongly reccomend it.

Well i have this Direct Mount On/Off on my Dark G7 Fly. I have 3 of the biggest reasons to love this On/Off. First off the Size of this is just perfect, in pictures it may look bulky and heavy but it truely isnt. Its just comfy the way it rests on the gun. And second no need for a rail or drop? Thats the best part...the Direct Mount may be a tad pricey, but it makes up for it. And lastly the buttons for turning this baby on or off, no more getting stressed out or screwing the knob on and off too.
All i can say is that Direct Mount is very user friendly. Very reliable. I bought this just to test out on my G7 Fly and i feel in love with it when i first saw it and used it. I recommend this to anyone who is looking into buying one.
CP on/off - has superiour bleed function, which i'll miss.
Hybrid Grind push button on/off - hard to unscrew tank (this was an older one).

Sleek & simple (newer design).
No bleed function.
Button wobbly (but works fine).
I've got another gun but only had the one asa (CP on/off). The Trix had a CP rail & the other gun had a CP micro drop and i'd just switch the CP on/off between the guns when i felt like using one or the other. Well that became a problem when my step-daughter started playing - she had to use yet another gun that i'm selling.
Solution? New asa. But this time, i wanted a direct mount. Naturally, i wanted to go with CP again but their direct mount on/off sticks out the back a bit. I prefer the rear of the asa to be flush with the back of the grip or forward a bit, like this Function one.
So the rail & CP on/off are now on the other gun permanently and this Function direct mount is on the Trix. Yay. And it's working out pretty well. The on/off button wobbles but not in a way that it'll degas itself on the field. You can just rotate it a little with your finger. So i suppose it doesn't wobble so much as it rotates. You wouldn't even notice if it weren't for the company's jewels on either side.
Bleed function - for those that don't know, "bleeding" the asa means not only cutting the air off from the marker but also releasing any air trapped in the asa itself; that bit of trapped air is what causes tanks to be hard to unscrew from asas (evident in basic asas with no on/off). CP perfected this tidbit of technology - Function has not.
However, in Function's defense, my tank is relatively easy to unscrew from this direct mount on/off compared to other non-bleeding or non-on/off asas.
There aren't a whole lot of direct mounts available but i'd recommend any one of them over a rail/asa combo. Function just so happens to make a good one.

Need different length screws
I've recently been turned onto the world of direct mount ASAs. No extra hardware, no extra height, no hassle. I got this over the Smart Parts 1/4 turn ASA.
The Function direct mount is solid and easy to turn on and off with the button and in gloved hands. There's no chance for it to turn off in the middle of playing when you smack the ground or a bunker.
The only downsides: it doesn't vent and you need one extra long screw for it. When I got it I was hoping to just pop it right on. Nope. I had to go to Home Depot and get a 1 1/2" screw for the hole closest to the button. Not a huge deal, but it wasn't what I expected.
It's an ASA, it's direct mount, it's slim and easy to use. It will probably cost you less to get just this than it will for a rail/asa combo.

Not Idiot Proof...
Doesn't bleed the air when turned off
This On/Off (in my humble opinion) is one of the coolest things I have seen. Sure, it is only and ASA, but I really like the push-button style. Unfortunately, when you turn it off, the air doesn't bleed, so the tank doesn't come off any easier, but it surely saves your O-rings. The biggest problem with this is that if you don't turn it back on after removing the tank, the marker will hold one or more shots worth (depending on the marker) of air that can easily be used to fire a paintball. What does this mean? This means that someone who doesn't have as much respect for their marker as most people do could easily forget that fact and end up shooting someone even though "there wasn't a tank on it", or someone else could toy with it thinking that its safe because "there wasn't a tank on it" and hurt someone. I personally don't find it a huge deal, for I am very big on safety, but it could be a problem to someone younger or not quite as careful.
Its a great product with a minor flaw, but I personally don't think that flaw is big enough to hurt the rating.
