First off, there is no 10 inch version of this shroud. It comes in 6", 9" and 12". I would have rather put this under Metadyne to give credit where it is due, but after submitting them as a manufacturer twice they still do not appear here...........
I started looking for a shroud not long after I got my A5 as I just did not care for the look of a 14" barrel sticking out by itself. I knew I did not want any of the set screw type so I was going to be limited in selection. After a lot of searching I found the Spec Ops FOG and this series of shrouds from Metadyne. Since I was going for more of a MP5 look rather than M4 this was the choice for me.
Right off the top, the quality of the material and manufacture of this shroud is absolutely first rate. Metadyne has a reputation of producing high end kit and this is no exception. From the A5 specific adapter to the threading for the shroud to the final finish everything is exactly the way you would do it if you had the skills, equipment and material to do it yourself.
The look is a big part of what sold me. With a 14" barrel and the 9" shroud the perfect amount of barrel sticks out to give a nicely balanced look. Adding the Metadyne collapsing stock to the marker makes the overall balance just right for me. It does make it a bit heavy, but I am not scooting around an air ball field with it, I am moving through the bush.
Another bonus with this system is that if down the road I want the 6", 12" or RIS hand guard made by them I can just screw it onto the adapter that came with the 9".
I have never had any luck whatsoever with the supposedly easy to change A5 barrel adapter, so I just split the marker in half and did it the easy way (for me). Once I had it back together it was dirt easy to lock the adapter in place with the locking ring provided and then just screw on the shroud itself.
That would be my only beef with this shroud. The amount of threading to get it on and off. I understand that the almost 1 inch of threading provides greater stability but it can be a bit annoying to take off. Of course there is rarely any reason to remove it so it is kind of a moot point.
Conclusion:
Like I have said in other reviews, nothing is perfect so nothing gets a ten. Nine for the nine inch shroud. I am very happy so far with this shroud.

Review:
I got the Opsgear SR10 shroud to protect the barrels on my Tippmann A-5 during intense woodsball play. Unlike a lot of the mods marketed to the paintball mil-sim set, this accessory is truly functional and "battlefield tough".
The shroud's initial installation takes a couple of minutes with two Allen wrenches. The two forward receiver screws and the screw that holds the Cyclone feed are loosened enough to allow the stock barrel receiver to be removed. A threaded barrel receiver that comes with the SR10 replaces the original Tippmann part, and the screws are retightened. From that point, a slim knurled lockring is threaded onto the barrel receiver, followed by the shroud itself. The shroud and lockring are tightened against one another, and the shroud is secured! It can now go on or off in a matter of seconds with no tools, and yet it stays in place through all-day shooting and the roughest woodsball play.
The SR10 shroud is free-floating. It makes no contact with the actual barrel and completely obviates the need for set screws or any other primitive methods that other barrel shrouds use to attach themselves directly to the barrel. This means any barrel 10" or longer can be installed or removed without fiddling with the shroud! Just leave it in place. That makes for very convenient barrel changes.
In the field, the Shroud provides a surprisingly useful long-reach hand position, for more stretch than you get with the A-5's stock foregrip. It's a great way to hold the gun steady for prone shooting and sniping, even when using a relatively short barrel. The shroud also provides excellent protection for your barrel. You can run your gun along rocks or tree trunks with no fear of damaging your expensive/delicate barrel. I use my SR10 to protect my carbon fiber St!ffi -- and I want to get an SR14 for complete coverage!
Did I mention that this thing looks amazing?
The only cons are the weight and the price -- both a bit hefty...
Conclusion:
A great product for protecting your barrel conveniently and adding a mil-sim look and feel to your A-5.

Review:
In my opinion, this is one of the coolest mods I have ever used for the A5. It looks great, and it makes the already great feel of the A5, even greater. It is used nicely instead of a bulky shroud, which could cost way more, and gives you great mobility of the gun. It is great to prop up on bunkers without damaging the barrel. It is very heavy duty and built strong.
However, as great as it was, I couldn't work the A5 barrel adapter. I had to split the A5 marker and put the adapter in. When it was put back together, it was a simple procedure to lock it in and put on the shroud.
Conclusion:
I would reccomend this product to anyone that plays woodsball and wants a super cool, affordable mod to their gun.

Review:
OK to start off this product was listed under Metadyne when I bought it, Although I *Think* it is made by opsgear.
This came to my door at about 7:00 last night, needless to say I was quite excited to attach it to my marker. Bought this for a 98 Custom, they also make it for the A5. The hand gaurd comes in 3 lengths: 6 inch, 9 inch and 12 inch, i Bought the 12 inch to go with my 18 inch barrel (although im still waiting for the barrel to arive).
This hand gaurd is VERY strong, I would feel fine hitting this thing with a train. There is over 1 inch of threading to keep the hand gaurd attached to the marker.
PROS:
Strong: As I said, there is 1inch of threading to attach this to the marker
The Hand Gaurd is made of thick aluminum and feels very strong and wont warp
Heavy: This is a Pro because i do not have a remote line so the weight of the hand
guard balences my gun and balences the 20oz CO2 on the back.
Lock Ring: This Hand gaurd includes a Lock Ring that can be tightend Against the back
of the hand gaurd, this prevents the guard from rotating out of place.
CONS:
Heavy: Not a big deal for me, but some may mind.
Thread: Has the NEW 98C threading for the barrel, Cant use old barrels without an
addaptor.
**EDIT**
The lock ring works a little to well, i can get the thing appart anymore! Not a major deal but it makes cleaning a little more challengeing, still a great product.
Having played a 6 hour game on the weekend i can say this may be the best thing ever invented! Not only did it stand up to the environment and the beatings of getting shot, it protected my barrel from sand and dirt. I didn't have to squeegee once the whole day! I also use it to rest my gun on bunkers for level fireing, as i don't have a bi-pod yet. No scratch's, easy to clean, looks dam cool and is all around an amazing addition to my marker.
Conclusion:
This is all around an AMAZING product! Protects your barrel, adds the SR25 look to the gun and provides a great hand gaurd that can be used insted of the front grip. Would give this an 11 out of 10 if i could!
