The Tactical Riser Rail Mount is used to get your scope up off your gun and offer you a Picatinny style rail on top of your A-5 instead of the 3/8~Weaver rail(s) that are built in.

Yes, similar rails are sold at other sites for as much as $40, but they won't fit your gun properly without modification. They come with pressed in studs, one of which is a half thickness stud, and the other is full, causing the Tactical Riser to sit at an angle on your gun. The reason is because they are actually made for AR-15/M-16's.

The Tactical Riser Rail from UMS addresses this limitation. Both studs are modified to half thickness and the Tactical Riser Rail will set level on the top of your A-5.

This is a very nice mount that is built very well. It attaches/detaches with the large thumbscrews, allowing you to quickly mount/dismount your optics as the game, your needs or the mission changes.
Product Availability
The Underground Mod Shop Tactical Riser Rail Mount is older, so while it may be available used and in a few cases new, it is not commonly available anymore.

Strengths: Actually fits your A5
Weaknesses: None that i've found so far
Review: This scope riser is fantastic. It's been custom milled to fit onto your A5 perfectly. Most risers are designed for AR15's or real firearms. I made the mistake of buying one of those and it wouldn't fit correctly, even thought it said it would. Ended up sending that one back and getting this one instead. I asked them if i could get it by the next weekend and Flatline's Up made sure i did. Took 2 minutes to put it on. Line it up with the dovetail and use a coin to tighten it up and you're done. Works fantastic, holds my red dot very nicely.
Conclusion: Undergroud Mod Shop is a great shop that makes quality parts. If you need a scope riser (and you probably due because your paintball mask will get in the way) be sure to pick one of these up. For only 25 bucks it's a deal. Highly recommended

Marker Setup: a-5, r/t, x-7 hopper, lapco foregrip, UMS riser, 30mm horton red dot sight, 32* remote, female stab, apex tip, UMS adapter, stubby barrel.
Strengths: Good fit and finish, stays on firmly, allows picatinny accessories, raises rail.
Weaknesses: It doesn't raise the rail enough.
Review: If you haven't figured it out yet, the 7/8" rails on the A-5 and the 98 are pretty worthless. With few exceptions, everything designed to fit on a 7/8" is made for a weaver or picatinny-style rail, so they all have little studs designed to fit between the grooves on those rails. They're designed to stay in place on actual firearms despite the recoil. Those studs prevent their devices from fastening to the Tippmann rail properly. The other risers you'll find on pbreview are obvious exceptions, but most of them require a 3/8-7/8" adapter for 7/8" accessories, and/or are more expensive than the UMS.

The UMS riser's bottom is machined smooth so it'll fit on the A-5 and 98, and its top has grooves so it'll fit most accessories. Also, it's a rail riser. In the former two capacities, it's pretty flawless. It stays on securely, will accommodate any accessories, and has good fit and finish.

This will vary, depending on your sight, mask, and stock, but as a riser, it doesn't quite get the job done for me. My mask still hits my stock too early for the sight to be comfortable to use. I can see the dots on my sight now while wearing a mask, but I have to lay my mask on the stock and crane my neck to get the angle right, and even then the dots are towards the top of the sight. It's far from reflexive.
Conclusion: If it fits your needs, get it. $25 is very reasonable.
