It is a rear access / bolt-on adapter for the ION.
Creates a means for ION owners to easily get to the bolt when ball breakage occurs.

Do to the notorious / infamous difficultly involved with breakdown involved with IONS and the need for tools; a new means was devised to make the ION bolt accessable or field-strippable without the need for tools.

The bolt can be removed in 3 small steps.
1.... Drop the air line from exposed banjo fitting.
2.... Drop the thumb screw holding ADAPTER to body.
3.... Backout / Unscrew completely attached ADAPTER and FIRING CAN assembly.

Entire process takes mere seconds compared to stock set-up of gun from factory.
Product Availability
The ROB - MOD is older, so while it may be available used and in a few cases new, it is not commonly available anymore.

Review: I've been playing paintball for over 17 year know and I've seen good and bad gun upgrades. This one falls into the good category. The Rob-Mod is a simple, yet elegant solution to those Ion users that want a BOB (Bolt Out Back) setup, yet wish to keep the current body. the key issue for most Ion users is keeping it lubed.

This upgrade replaces the donut and relocates the rear banjo outside to marker. Installs in 30 minutes or less depending on how you wish to route the rear hose. To install the upgrade requires the user at the very minimum to modify the gun frame, this can be simple to elaborate depending on how you wish to route the rear hose to the back banjo fitting. Once installed you can unscrew the Bolt/Firing Can/Donut assembly in 2 minutes, but unscrew in the rear thumb screw and disconnecting the rear hose from the banjo.

I am using a ANS 90 degree frame, I routed to the hose straight the back of the frame. It took me 20 minutes with a dremel and the small round metal cutting bit. After that it's was another 5-10 minutes to set it all up.

I've read comments on other sites by people that have yet to purchase the Rob Mod.
First, that the rear hose is ugly and could get snagged on something. Ugly that is an opinion, but you can route the hose anyway you wish. I have exactly 3 inches of hose visible and it hugs the bottom of my Ion body. As far as snagging the hose on something, if you play speedball, you are more likely to be hit by lightening then snag the hose. And since I play woodsball, though it could possibly happen with proper routing, IMO you can reduce this risk to near 0.

Second, that it only comes in plain aluminum color. Valid, but this was intentional to allow the end user to color the Rob-Mod to his or her liking, so that you are not locked into the standard 3-4 (Black, Red, Blue or Plain) Ion upgrade colors.

Lastly, this upgrade reduce the risk of the Ion user from cross-threading or stripping the threads in the screw holes or banjo fittings, a common problem. The only things you have to disconnect are the rear thumb screw (not really needed) and the hose in the rear banjo fitting. This eliminates those problems.
Conclusion: For those of you that don't want to complete tear down your Ion every time to lube it, this is a good upgrade to purchase. I gave it a 9 out of 10 because nothing is perfect.
