Strengths: Very accurate gun for the money
has a flat trajectory
veleocity is consistant
Weaknesses: trigger pull is not that great
expanision chamber is a fore grip
kinda heavy
Review: I have not used it for awhile, but it worked great when i had it. I had some leaking problems with it, but i solved them. It shoots pretty damn accurate for a cheap blow back, I chopped a LOT of balls with this thing, never used an electric hopper on it. Its been sittin in my closet, and i am thinking about taking my spyder parts off of my e-99 and putting them on the raider, so how that works out. Don't really remember much of my experince with it, had some rough spots though.
Conclusion: Great gun for bush ball, would recomend something else for speed ball.
had some problems with it, but when it worked it worked great

get a Freak Barrel for it, it's a really good barrel to get!
Strengths: shoots strait, hits em hard, very reliable, good on CO2, i played 5 games on one 9 oz thank! Very powerful the spring has high tension allowing for a very powerful blast! Superior range on the field!!!!
Weaknesses: maybe too powerful but thats not a prob for me, slightly heavier but not a problem easily managable. the trigger is kinda slow but you dont need to shoot fast with this powerful and accurate gun because if you aim it will hit!
Conclusion: this is a very good gun all my friends wanna buy it. they dont make em anymore but you could get an X Raider and its the same exact thing just not promoted by JT.

The only marker I have ever owned it this JT Dark Raider. I "cut my teeth" in paintball with this marker. I have however just bought a Toxic Impulse and look forward to its arrival.
Marker Setup: I have a JT Dark Raider. I took the stock expansion chamber off and put a chrome 32* six stage expansion chamber, added a CP chrome flame drop forward with on valve, and a complete 12" freak system. Oh, and I put a 2002 Rikochet hopper on it to keep the balls rolling.
Recommended
Upgrades:
First off I had to get a new barrel. The stock one looks great, but the bore is huge! You can put whatever kind you wan't but the Freak system is really great. If your going to use your marker for anything other than rec play I would suggest a regulator in the place of an expansion chamber. WDP makes a nice one thats not to big. I would also recomend that you purchase a kit of tension springs for a spider. When the weather changes these come in real handy. The stock spring I got with the marker was really BIG! I kept the stock 45 frame just so I wouldn't completely alter the original look, but the frame comes off fairly easily if you wan't to replace it with a frame that has a double trigger.
Strengths: This marker is incredibly easy to clean. If your careful you can even field strip it. With the Freak barrel this marker is very accurate. I have nitro hooked up to mine, and even on a hot and humid Louisiana day the f.p.s. only fluctuates 10 f.p.s., give or take a few. Even though it is a single trigger the marker fires moderately fast. I play with and against a team down at my local field who swears I have an electro, but I really don't think I am getting more than 10 b.p.s. out of it. Maybe someone with a faster trigger finger than me can make that number higher. Oh, and in the past 3 times I have gone and played I have only chopped 2 balls. The JT Dark Raider is a very worthy apponent in the big world of paintball markers.
Weaknesses: Mostly the weight is the biggest draw back to this marker. After lugging it around all day, my arm is really throbbing. The trigger pull is pretty stiff and has some slack in it. Another reason why a new frame would be nice. Since I have had my Dark Raider I have broken 2 loader elbows (a REAL pain)! I have even toyed with the idea of finding a machine shop to make me a virticle feed for this marker to alleviate this re-occuring problem.
Conclusion: Besides the few problems I already stated I love this marker. It can certainly hang with the rest of the semi-auto world and can even give a electro a run for its money. This isn't the cheapest marker, but I definatley rank it over any other common "newbie" marker.

Spyder Shutter - JT Dark Raider is an overall better gun. I found it for $50 less than my friend found his shutter. He has been having trouble with the shutter but everything is great with the Dark Raider
Marker Setup: Jt Dark Raider with 14'' Smart Parts Teardrop
Recommended
Upgrades:
barrel - smart parts (teardrop or all-american) or dye
Strengths: This is a solid well built gun. It is heavy nad loud but I like that.
it doesn't have problems in cold weather like many guns. So far, I there haven't been any leaks or problems. With the Teardrop, it is very accurate. The stock barrel is really not that bad though. Finally, I have only had a few ball breaks. I broke about 1 out of 500 or so. Some of the breaks were just caused by bad balls.
Weaknesses: This gun does have a few things bad
1. It has a metal feed. My elbow slipped off a couple of times. As long as you have an elbow that you can tighten well (it comes with a decent one), it should not be too bad.

2. The two screws on top of metal feed can come loose and hopper will wobble a little. Just happened once to me.

3. Hard to get velocity down. May need to cut spring.

NOTHING TOO MAJOR
Conclusion: Buy this gun. It is made with good quality. Just by holding it, I could tell it was well built. I recommend a barrel, either smart parts or dye. There is nothing really bad about this product. It could use a beaver tail, low pressure chamber, or drop forward but these are not too important. This gun can also be found a lot cheaper than MSRP. I am really happy with this gun.

Strengths: cost me 130 bux at i&i with a discount, which they shortly discontinued. its a sweet gun. nice and heavy, solid, accurate as friggin hell with my 10 inch dye boomstick, and looks great. people look at it in awe all the time: "what IS that?" the stock barrel is excellent FOR a stock barrel. cool case makes me feel like im getting down to business. ive used it for about a month, maybe 10 or so times and its still good as new, no problems at all. this gun feels so nice and solid. its loud and the venturi bold is big fat and heavy. takes spider parts. feed is tilted so you can use sights or rails if thats yer gig.
Weaknesses: the trigger pull is a little too long for my tastes, although it is very smooth.

this gun will chop balls when it shoots fast (which it does), UNLESS you give it a motorized hopper. first few games it broke like 1 in 500, now it doesnt break things anymore, go figure.

no need to upgrade the barrel (but boomstick is way better)

you will need to cut the spring or get a spring set because it shoots 325 at minimum velocity. my local range only allows 230 so i had to tone down majorly.
Conclusion: performs well stock. unbeatable for its price. ive never tried a spider or a tippman and I NEVER WILL! still, its no autococker. but i shot it from 50 feet using jt balls with my boomstick, and the spread is the size of a pack of smokes. excellent accuracy.

EXCELLENT gun for the price, no problems. buy it and all the girlies will want to have sex with you.

Strengths: just adding to my previous review
Weaknesses: ok there are two little screws on top of the feed port, they come loose and then you chop balls like crazy and the feed port and hopper wobble all over the place. also when you chop balls the ball shell gets jammed inside and the gun won't cock. then you have to field strip it to get the crap out. also i can't get the feed port off to clean inside and there are some places that the paint gets where you can't clean. so paint will come out the sides when you shoot and f's up the accuracy
Conclusion: use some superglue on the screws, I didn't use glue because i dont want to mess with stuff. so i carry a flathead screw driver with me and i tighten the screws up during lapses in the fighting. now it works fine.

STILL A GREAT GUN!!!

Strengths: Well built, easy to field strip and clean.
Put a smartparts teardrop barrel on it and it is amazingly accurate.
Heavyier (for some reason i like that)
NICE trigger, feels great
only broke one ball out of 2,500 (i was holding it at an angle)
I dont like beaver tails
Weaknesses: Grips kinda bad, buy some stickies
You need to cut the spring a couple soils or you shoot hot
Conclusion: needs barrel upgrade, add some dye stickies, anti siphon tank, and a drop forward
i bought it for $260, too much! but hey i got it from the local pb store and he needs the cash
I dont know how it compares to spyders ive never shot one, but the last time i took it to a field a guy with a warped sportz angel said he had never seen one before and asked if he could try it a round. I got the angel a round :) hehehe He loved it. The next weekend he told me he bought one for a backup.

i recomend this gun, nice feel. but look for a good price and add some upgrades

Strengths: Well I got through E-bay for $135.. I like that it has a lifetime warrante. I also love the feild striping, although I wouldnt do it in the feild. you might lose a little disk in the velocity chamber.. The velocity is awsome! I broke maybe 1 ball out of 1000 pb. The barrel is light, sturdy, and is more accurate than most stock barrels.. It is accurate for a stock barrel I must admit.
Weaknesses: Well lets see. Not much. i couldnt get the velocity down! I had to pop off some shots to get my velocity to at least 290.. My 20 oz may have had a little more pressure, I dont know.. I would recomend a remote, because its kinda heavy..
Conclusion: I would recomend an aftermarket barrel like most guns.. If you dont have the cash, dont get a barrel because it does great! I would reccommend a remote because it is a little heavy. I have came up with this.. It is a great solid gun because it is heavy. It is as solid as a Chevy (back off Ford guys). I just bought the Stone Cold II 17" for it and am hoping to get it here by the weekend.. let you all know about the barrel in this review.

Strengths: This gun has all the looks, and everyone on the field wants to know what it is. It has no problem shooting fast, is easily stripped, is fairly accurate (even with the stock barrel), and has a decent rate of fire. Occasionally it will chop old and cheap paint, but what gun doesn't?
Weaknesses: The first day I took my gun to the field, I had problems. The gun wouldn't shoot lower than 325, even with the velocity adjuster at its lowest position. Also, for no apparent reason a screw holding on the plastic grip came off because its hole was stripped. Nothing that a little locktite won't fix, but does kind of hurt the fit and finish idea that the look had going. The weight can be kind of heavy, but you do get used to it. There seems to be a lack of accessories though excluding the spyder accessories and barrels.
Conclusion: Overall, I'm happy with the gun. After cutting a few coils off the spring, it is shooting decent. Why my gun had a stripped screw I don't know but I want to change the grip anyway, something softer like a dye grip or something. Gun will compete well against tippmanns and spyders, but remember its only a blow back.

Strengths: Wow! Thats all i have to say. I have noy yet shot the gun but i took it out and pulled the trigger and the way it seems, you may be able to get like about 5 shots a sec. The looks of this gun is also awesome and is not a cheap aluminum like other guns in its price range. It also comes with a cool case! Buy it now!
Weaknesses: Well haven't shot it yet but the only tihng would be is that you may need a new barrel just like every other gun.
Conclusion: BUY THIS RIGHT NOW! If you are trying to decide what spyder you want stop thinking, buy one of these. Its the same price and alot better!
