Review: Recently, my baseball sliders shorts crapped out on me. Instead of buying more, I decided to just let it "slide" (forgive the pun) and wait a little while until the season slowed down a bit so I had the time to go through the hassle of ordering some real paintball slider shorts online. I found the Empire Ground Pounder Slider Shorts (SE) on multiple websitesand decided to give them a try.
When they arrived in the mail, I was so excited. Upon opening the packaging, I was both appreciative and dissapointed.

First of all, the definition for these slider shorts on EVERY website said that they have "a removable man-pad" for those who dare to live on the edge. This is either advertising B.S. or a typo that just stuff through copy-and-pasting from another product. I tend to think the latter is the case. Regardless, these shorts DO NOT have a "removable man-pad". They do have padding in front of the crotch though, but DEFINITELY not enough to stop a paintball from giving your boys a nasty beating. However, if you are wearing paintball PANTS with protection in tandem with these slider shorts, you will be alright.
Second, another perk advertised about these shorts is padding for your tail-bone in case you fall on your rear end to prevent a nasty goose-egg that could last for weeks. These shorts DO have padding on the back, but unfortunately the designers put it up too high and it protects your lower back and not your tail-bone.

What I DID like about these shorts is their breathability and thigh protection. Your thigh WILL NOT get bruised if you are wearing these shorts!!! The padding wraps from your hamstrings to the tops of your quads and is very thick. These are PERFECT for sliding into bunkers. You will not get those lovely rasberries we hold so dear.
Second, the breathability of these shorts is god-like and is very durable. Every seem is triple-stitched and will last a lifetime. The venting keeps the air moving from front to back and wicks sweat away from your body very well like the review says. I love it. They are very comfortable and breezy. MUCH better than baseball slider shorts or any other alternative.
Conclusion: In conclusion, I would reccommend these shorts for anyone who wants some light, mobile padding used in tandem with paintball pants. I LOVE them because they fit my style of fast-paced in your face play. They give me protection without hindering my game in any way.

However, if your looking for some shorts that will make you invincible to paintballs, go ahead and keep looking.

Marker Setup: Smart Parts SP-1 w/ Blackheart board, Invert Halo Too, Trinity T-Lock, Smart Parts All American Back with All American Apex Ready Front + Apex tip, 68/4500 HPA Tank, Remote w/ Slide Check
Strengths: Breathable
Nice thigh protection
Weaknesses: Complete lack of crotch protection
Review: I bought these shorts after reading on every website: "Removable man pad for those of you who dare to live on the edge." This statement is very misleading, because my main goal was to have shorts with crotch protection, the thigh padding was just an added bonus. Unfortunately, there is no removable man pad.

These shorts will provide absolutely NO CROTCH PROTECTION AT ALL! In my opinion, even if you wear them under your regular playing pants, they won't add any extra groin protection, so if that's what your looking for, you will not be happy with these.

As I said, my reason for buying these shorts was primarily for the groin protection. Since they will provide virtually no protection in that respect, I'm very dissatisfied. However the thigh padding and breathable material are nice and seem to be of good quality. Anyone who is looking for that should be pleased.
Conclusion: I was very disappointed with these shorts. Even though I wasn't expecting to be invincible, I was expecting to have at least SOME crotch protection. For me, the shorts don't serve any purpose and I will be returning them.
