BDU pants-well, they are like pants, what can I say. Everyone has worn regular pants.
RF Black CCI Phantom
14" stock barrel
Vertical 3.5oz CO2
Winchester 50rnd hopper
Tough, padding, venting, durable, looks great
Could use more crotch protection, belt loops.
I have used these pants twice so far, once when it was about freezing out and I was also wearing thermal underwear, and also when it got up to about 80 degrees F. Both days they were great. On the hot day, the venting mesh kept my legs very cool with the strong wind we had. I didn't notice circulation when running, but when I was idle and the wind was blowing, it sure did feel very nice.
The pants have a mesh lining down to just above the knee, probably to help with venting. There are mesh panels on the inseam and back of the knees that provide adequate venting.
There is a great amount of padding for the knees, this padding looks great too. In the crotch area, there is a padded flap that is secured with velcro and a snap that covers a zipper. This area does not have a ton of padding, it would help a little but I don't think much kinetic energy from the ball would really be stopped, and we know that's what really makes those unlucky shots hurt. So, I recommend that you wear some other form of protection such as sliders, a cup or towel, whatever works best for you. These pants do not provide enough protection by themselves.
There is also some molded neoprene foam above the butt area, this is to stabilize packs or something. I don't wear a large pack (I use a cheap 2x 100 round pod holder loaded with 2 50 round pods), so I have no idea how effective it is, but it looks cool.
At the bottom, there is a string that you can use to tighten the opening of the leg, this cord is secured with velcro. To adjust the waist size you pull two straps and secure them with velcro around the waist. The pants don't have any belt loops, I could see how a belt would be useful for items, but the adjusting belt could be used for hanging things directly off the side. The main pockets on the side are not incredibly deep, but good enough for a barrel condom or hands, etc. There are swab pockets on the side near the knee that are big enough for a folded swab, anything else would probably fall out.
The fabric is very tough, but can be stained by paint. The sublimated graphics on the upper thigh look cool, but can also be stained.
I recommend these pants, they look great, work great, have good padding, and are cheap now that the 09s are out. A great buy.
spyder pilot 09 w/ eye , VL eyeforce, 48ci guerilla air w/ myth valve, JT alpha camo , NXe basic w/ pod edjection JT speed pods, proto 08 jersey and pants

What? they may as well remove the weaknesses section for this item.
The pants have a lot of padding in very useful places. The knee pads work great, and make me much more comfortable when I am on my knees. I can actually slide much further with these pants, than my old blue jeans. The pants also have stretchy crotch padding. It isn't a lot, but it is flexible and it definitely protects your family jewels more than nothing. It also has butt padding which keeps your pack from sliding arouns, and it can keep a hard plastic piece on your pack from stabbing painfully into the side of your butt.
I think these pants look very good. They definitely put a lot of thought into the style of these pants. I think it looks better than the 09 pants, especially in red.
These pants have venting all along the side, which feels nice in a breeze. It also has vents around the crotch to keep your private parts from getting sweaty, and uncomfortable. It would be embarrassing if you got caught messing with your crotch on the field.
It can be greatly adjusted using two Velcro straps on the side to fit a variety of sizes. You can also tighten the ankles to keep the legs from sliding up during a slide.
At fifty dollars, these are some of the cheapest pants you can find with such performance.
This an amazing effort on Proto's part, and these pants are simply the best for the price.
I've used these pants about four times and every time i get at least ten bounces. These pants can withstand a ton of slides and dives even through rocks. They also hold pod packs real well. I bought these from KPS paintball for about 90bucks and they are worth way more than that considering the amout of scrapes and bruises i would have.
Definintly buy these there at least as good as the dye ones and about 30bucks cheaper
