The Distortion Jersey is a light-weight and breathable outer layer which has some great features built-in! Foam padding has been added to the chest, shoulders and forearms to offer protection. Internal micro-fibre is conveniently placed inside the jersey to wipe down after a game!
Foam Padding - Increases hit protection
Mesh Venting -Better Air Circulation
Micro-Fibre Cloth - For Lens cleaning
The Planet Eclipse 09 Distortion Jersey is newer, so it should be commonly available, both new and used. Check out the Places to Buy links below for places to purchase it new.
DYE C8- compares well.. but doesn't look or feel as good on you (this is personal preference). Padding is also not nearly as extensive.
Smart Parts Fighter 3 and Defender Jerseys- a little lighter, but again, the bounce factor is much lower.
Before making the decision to purchase this rather awesome bit of playing kit, I'd been happily using a Smart parts fighter 3 jersey. When a friend of mine decided to form a team, I decided it was time for a change.
The 09 Distortion blows every jersey I've ever worn out of the water.
LOOKS: The thing is pure speedball intimidation. It looks sleek, light, functional, and plain awesome, as is standard with eclipse gear. Definitely the best looking jersey I've ever played in.
FEEL: If you're buying, I'd suggest buying the same size you'd buy for a comfortable T-shirt fit. Eclipse has done a bang up job of making the fit perfect and proportional; the neck fits snugly, the sleeves have ample space for padding, and the jersey is as baggy as you would want to it to be. The material on the inside makes it very comfortable to wear, in addition to making it incredibly lightweight; there have been times I've forgotten I was wearing it. Extensive venting along the sides and underarms ensures that there won't be excessive heat buildup. However, If you're going in with full elbow padding worn beneath, It does get a bit toasty after a while. You've been warned.
FUNCTION: in addition to the above, the jersey is functional, and this is what really won me over. The pads, as I've learned, are very effective at taking bounces; I've been hit by five or six round bursts at closer range and have had them all bounce (I realize this could've been luck, but I attribute a lot of this to the padding). At long range, a burst on the forearm or chest area is very unlikely. The microfiber cloth hidden beneath front of the jersey is very handy for wiping down your goggles in between games, or when you don't have nearly enough time to do a full spray down.
If you're a serious speedballer looking for a great jersey, then I highly recommend this one. It combines great form and function to make a Jersey that is stylish while helping you stay in the game longer and hurt less after. The 55 dollar price tag may seem high, but keep in mind many similar jerseys with equal or less in terms of features are a good twenty bucks more expensive.
If it were an option, I'd knock off half a point for the overheating issues. however, since this isn't an option, I'm going to round up because the color happens to match my gun nicely.

Spyder, Animal Paintball, Empire and free Hell Survivors TWC jersey.
TCP Extreme Autococker
CP Inline Reg
E1 frame w/ Zero B board and E1 board as a back up
Light weight, price, padding and stays cool(er than most other jerseys)
I got this jersey after giving away my other 09 jersey. I like how the neckline doesn't stretch and the wrist cuffs. A lot of jerseys have the hand wraps built into the sleeve of their jerseys, but with that a pair of elbow pads that also have that and a pair of gloves my hands tend to get a little cramp up from all of the material squeezing my hands.
I put padding in both strength and weakness. The reason for this is because I think it is great that it has padding and I like the areas that are padded. The part that I feel is a weakness is the cheap and thin foam that is used for padding. Thankfully I wear elbow pads so I don't need to worry about the arm padding, but for those of you who don't wear elbow pads don't expect to much out of the built in padding.
I think the ventilition of the jersey is great and it keeps me as cool as a jersey can while I'm playing.
If you're looking for a good looking and well performing jersey this is the one for you. If cost is an issue wait for the 2010 stuff to come out and get it on discount or ask a friend to hook you up with a used one. It was the best jersey I wore in 2009.
