i wouldn't bother.
Strengths: Very little.
Weaknesses: Terrible barrel, no eyes=constant jamming, slow bps.
Review: i personally think that this gun is a huge waste of money. Spyders are known by the new paintball players, because that is the only brand they hear about, thus making them way overpriced. IMPORTANT: if you are a new paintball player without much experience DO NOT BUY THIS GUN. Your money is much better spent on a smart parts ion, backed by a more realiable company, and a MUCH better gun. If you even want better for less money i would recomend the epiphany, also made by smart parts, which is full metal, for new players who do not care for taking good care of their gun. I would never buy a spyder over a smart parts gun, which is better for less money.
Conclusion: DON'T BUY IT. Buy a smart parts ion, or epiphany for less money, and better quality.

Review: Ok, before some people start saying WTF is he talking about, hear me out. I realize maybe this could be just my gun and that all others could be fine. My advice to you is that if you really want this gun, do what I didn't and test the one you are going to buy.

Alright, I'll start from out of the box:
First thing i noticed is that is looks awesome, sharp annodizing, and nice millied body.
However, i hated the chrome grip frame, and the clear grips have to go(I panted the inside of mine black for a quick fix)

I screwed in the c02 and immediatley realized that the bolt wasn't holding air. So I did what anyone would do and replaced the o-rings. Alittle better but not perfect.

First shot was at a close by tree, it seemed to have a nice crisp shot until I shot at a target farther away. The second shot curved dead left, and the third curved dead right. I then started to mess with the velocity only to learn that I was makeing it worse.

I continued to fire several shots, and every ball either curved or didn't shoot far at all. This gun couldn't hit a 30 foot target from 50 feet away. So I brought it back to the guy who sold it to me, we took it out back of his shop, and he saw the same thing I did. We then took the whole thing apart and replaced every part with either a spare or an upgraded part.

Next shot, even worse than before we touched it

I have had the gun for about 3 months, Why i kept it this long I really don't know. I can only rate this gun on what i have seen and not by the luck that others may have with it. If I could rate it a Zero I would but I have to give it a One. TEST YOURS BEFORE YOU BUY IT. I was not able to return mine because it was a personal order, so don't get screwed.
Conclusion: TERRIBLE, don't buy it unless you test it.

Tippman 98C Stock, Tippman 98C E-Bolt, Spyder Clones
Marker Setup: HALO TSA Back, ACI Zero Gravity, CO2
Recommended
Upgrades:
A electric hopper like TSA, Apache or similar,
A better barrel but the stock is not that bad
Strengths: dependable
Affordable,
easy to maintain,
Regulator,
The best: ready to go with stock configuration
Weaknesses: No longer in production
Trigger is a litte rattly (can be fixed)
Rechargeable battery needed
Review: I bought the marker used to play with it for a few months. It surprised me how easy it was to maintain the gun and how good it was shooting. The only problem I had was a broken ball detent which is normal after many cases of paint through it.
After a day of intensive speedball on a dusty field in Texas I just had to remove the bolt and hammer, pull a squeegie through it, oil the parts and put it together. This is much easier then the Pin Puzzle of the 98C which I also own.
In comparison to any electrified or RT'ed 98C or A5 (exept the E-Bolt) this Spyder shoots much smoother and more accurate. I also tried the Stock barrel and found it very accurate.
The Electra worked well on CO2 but I recommend HP because the regulator is integrated in the ASA.
I am always a little concerned about the 9,6V rechargeable batteries used in this E-Mech Spyders. I recommend a good electronic charger like they are used for electric model aircraft. They allow you to check the actual capacity and they can refresh the battery. I do not recommend NiMH batterys because they tend to have high internal resistance after a few charging / discharging cycles or after being recharged before they are empty (which is the case if you play a whole weekend). Conventional NiCD Batteries are more dependable.
The stock bolt worked well and I would not see any reason to change it.
I chopped only 1 or 2 balls out of 2 cases. The paint was the cheap JT Elite which is known for breaking even in the hopper.

I sold the Electra because I had the E-Bolt 98C for speedball but sometimes I regret. The Electra DX served me wery well and this is what a Spyder have to do.
Conclusion: If you think about buying a used electric marker which doesnt need any upgrades to work good for your first paintball (Speedball) season, look out for this baby. It is one of the best things Kingman ever produced. Spare parts are easy to get and relatively cheap. The stock barrel is a relatively good 2-piece type. Because everyone gets a ION now the DX should be very cheap to get. Do not underestimate the Electra DX. It is a good buddy like every Spyder and far better than a e-mech Tippmann. Because there IS better Guns I give it a 9 but if you keep the price in mind it should get 20.

20 oz co2 tank, worse thing i ever did was use co2

Upgrades:
new barrel

new bottom line adapter

Strengths: Okay stock barrel
Weaknesses: Have 2 use an elbow 2 hold ur hoper!
Review: okay...when i got my dx i was the happiest kid alive... i loved it, i riped it out the box and threw on the barrel and new halo TSA frontman hopper. i screwed in my 20 oz tank and loaded it up. i ran out side and started firing away. it worked great. after starting playing paintball with my spyder it was my favorite gun i have ever had. i loved it and because it was a higher end marker at a pretty cheep price, i got mine new for like $230. if u want a good gun that will probably last u a while get this spyder.
Conclusion: If u get a few upgrades and use it like u should this is a great gun for starting player and people that play rec ball

Upgrades:
New bolt
barrel
fast hopper( force feed) because gun has a bad blow back and tends to chop
new regulator
new feed like a clamp feed cause broken elbows suck
Strengths: Once you get good upgrade you start flying
Weaknesses: Very inconsistent (new reg!)
Inner parts wear quickly
blow back (***get force feed hopper***)
Review: Its a nice gun but most of the things that suck are like small things they could fix like the grip the e-frame panel corrodes after use and there's no way to prevent it also the screws are very loose if you tighten them all the way you still get a wobble on parts this is a good gun if you no how to take care of it most problems are because the person doesnt know how to fix it. if you upgrade the parts this gun turns out to be very good. The blow back is bad but if you get a force feed hopper ur not gonna chop. the good part is this gun can go from rec play to tournament just with some minor upgrades
Conclusion: Sweet

Strengths: -Nice rate of fire

Review: This gun shoots very fast (14bps) especially for the price. I liked how you can adjust the trigger pull so it is very short. This gun has a nice list of features like the exspansion chamber and regulator. The only downs were the opperating pressure and the constant losening of the vertical feed, (probably just my gun).
Conclusion: I would recomend this gun to any beginer looking to increase their speed without buying a $1000 gun. I played one tournment with it and it kept up to many exspensive markers. Buy this gun!!

Upgrades:
electric hopper, that is it.
stock barrel is not too bad(14") but there isn't a gun reviewer out there who doesn't say to upgrade your barrel.
Strengths: it WILL outshoot 'em all, beautiful looking (that counts), Trigger is easy to walk
Weaknesses: expansion chamber small, a little play in the trigger(side to side). hard plastic grips.
Review: i bought a display model (i didn't know), it had been dry fired about a thousand times, when i got it it was missing the spare parts kit, all the o-rings inside were torn, battery not holding a good charge, missing parts mostly. DO NOT BUY A DISPLAY MODEL.
after i spoke to the world's greatest customer service and tech team they got me straightened out in a hurry. Kingman corp. rocks! This gun is the bomb! with a 21" barrel i have been dominating in the field. it's worth every penny, if you want to play, but you don't have a yuppie budget, this gun is for you.
Conclusion: great gun, great price, great looks, this thing is perfect. unless you like tippy's(if thats the case, i will dominate you).

Review: When I got this gun, i bought it becuase of reviews on this site. At first it treated me good. I only broke like 3 balls out of 2000. Then as i used it more and more it started to crap out. it broke and choped paint allll the time. This past weekend my autococker wasn't working so i used my electra and within three shots it chopped.
Conclusion: I wouldn't recomend buying this gun. I got it for 250 and if ur gonna spend that much then just save up 100 more bucks and get a WGP vert autococker.
