Definitely get a new barrel. The stock has much to be desired even though it looks cool.
You should get a new drop forward so that the gun won't be so long, even though it works great with the drop forward that comes with it.
The gun is decent on air, but I would throw a Rat Valve in it. You could put a Tornado in it, but that doesn't make sense for this gun. |
 |
 |
 |
 |
| Strengths: |
Good accuracy w/ new barrel.
VERY Easy to clean.
Simple to change firing modes. |
 |
| Weaknesses: |
Stock barrel.
Loud when shooting
Loose trigger |

| Review: |
I am new to the sport, but have researched and learned a lot of information in a short amount of time. Spyders are great newbie guns, and great back up guns for even more advance players. The stock barrel in the gun leaves much to be desire, but that is the way it is with most guns. I bought the Freak for it and now it works just fine. I have taken the gun apart and put in back together many times with ease. It is very easy to clean and maintain. The screws are loose when you get it from the factory, so you should tighten up everything. I think the gun should be taken apart so you know how to take care of it and oil the o-rings, so you can tighten the screws when you are putting it back together. To change between firing modes is as simple as pushing a button, you no longer have to change pins. Some people gripe about the grips, but I like them. Grips are easy to change out anyway. The trigger is a bit loose. I wouldn't go out and buy a new trigger frame. If you are getting to that point, you need to go purchase a more expensive gun and keep your Spyder as a back up. Compared to some other guns the Spyder is loud, but that doesn't really matter unless you are trying to be a sniper in an outdoor game. |
 |
| Conclusion: |
Anyone who is new to the sport should get this gun. It is easy to take care of, which will help you learn about how a marker works. It is very affordable and easy to use. And there are plenty of accessories that are out there for a Spyder. Even though there are better markers out there in the over all, for a newbie player I don't believe that there is a better marker for them than the Electra DX. |

| Review: |
I absolutely love this gun, for the 2.5 months i've been using it now i have never broken a ball, and i have never had it jam up...only thing thats happened is that when i'm playing w/o an electric hopper i tend to shoot too fast and a ball will get pinned between the bolt and feed tube...anyway the first time that happened i was shot from about a 5 ft away because i snuck up on a guy, pulled the trigger (click), hmm...all i had to do was pull the bolt back w/ the cocker and it was fine......o well. |
 |
| Conclusion: |
A great gun for anybody willing to spend a few extra $ for an electric but it is totally worth it. Fast enough for anybody(13bps) and with multi-modes it is very fun to intimidate the newbies with the full auto. |

This is a great gun from kingman. Very easy to upgrade and manage and the easy maintenece and easy access make it worthwhile. You may have to do a trigger job (way too far apart default) and fix the side play when you first get it, but its not any work at all. A new barrel would be extremely worthwhile, since on rapid fire the stock cant aim very well. One key thing i really enjoyed about this marker is the easy mode switching and also the built in charger which is very convenient but not the best. The sightrail is there basically just fro cosmetics and it doesnt do anything whatsoever. New grips are als on the upgrade ist, but it isnt that important. OVerall a nice wellput together gun |
 |
| Conclusion: |
For a gun of this quality, the $219.00 (how much i payed) you pay is worth every single penny. Some minor nuisances, but they are easy and simple to deal with. A great overall gun and very well made. Congrats Kingman on an excellent gun. |

And its pretty easy to strip...with my shutter, i always kinda scratched myself with stripping it...maybe sumtin wrong...but w/e...But this gun is great and i got it at way less than msrp 330 dollars...i got it for like 230...But this is a great gun (so far)
Weaknesses:

| Review: |
Overall this is a very VERY decent elect marker for the price DO NOT pay more than 225 for it its always on ebay for less than that i was at a local paint ball shop and they wanted 390 ?.. what is that you could buy a cocker for less than that i mean really i got this gun to out do my buddies and i think its gonna be sucessful run out and get this gun if you gotta budget of around 400 bucks ( just remember you're gonna wanna try it out so paint (50) elect hopper (60) co2 tank (20 oz 30-35) then you're set go and play for a while but dont be too crazy .... paint can and will get super expensive shooting through this marker its insanely fast and accurate
if you have any Questions email me at leaning59chevy@aol.com i will be playing every sat and sunday (my friends and i have a field in Pa) also if you're interested in playing we are all around the rookie to intermed range so email me and ill get ya directions |
 |
| Conclusion: |
go get this gun if you play with a bunch of guys running regular spyders pirhannas or stuff like that just show up and dont show anyone the gun just tell'em its a junk gun and light them all up just make sure they dont know its got full auto capabilities. In conclusion i will never give a gun a 10 only due to the fact that everything is able to be made better, more accurate, BUT i will say this for lack of anything inbetween a 9 and 10 its 9.9 for price reliablilty and standard features |

Lateral movement of trigger. Dirt creeps into trigger frame. Loud |
 |
| Review: |
I tried paint ball about 8 years ago, and didn't stick with it. This year I started again, and grabbed the Electra DX. IMHO this gun rocks. It shoots fast, and is very accurate with a stock barrel. It has more firing modes then I will ever use, Semi, 3, 6 and full auto. The built in charger is nice, but you should cover the hole with tape or dirt finds it way in. Other then the gun being loud and the fact dirt likes to creep its way into the trigger frame, and lateral movement of the trigger, I really like this gun. Like most guns the trigger pull is adjustable, I've gotten mine down to about 2mm, which in turn allows me a high rate of fire in semi mode. This makes the other modes useless to me. The LED display tells me that my gun is on, thats all I use it for really. Most suggest you need an electro hopper for this gun, but you can get away with using a gravity feed, just don't expect to fire full auto with it, but you can maintain a high rof using semi. |
 |
| Conclusion: |
This gun I believe is perfect for beginners into this sport. It is a little pricey right now, about 220 - 280 USD, but I think its worth it. The stock barrel is mighty nice. If you want an electro made by a company who has a reputation for good guns in the novice - int. categories then this is the gun for you. Cheers, and happy shooting. |

| Strengths: |
Well, It's got about the best stock barrel I've seen in its price range, a INLINE reg (none of this BL/expansion chamber nonsense.)
You gotta love the E-frame. |
 |
| Weaknesses: |
Uh low color selection? |
 |
| Conclusion: |
The guy below me has no clue what hes talking about... just a newb tippmann user who feels insecure about his gun being worse than this one, so he thought all the kids in his 4th grade class would think hes cool if he flamed it.
This gun is about the best as far as kingman e-markers go. Though I'm tiring of there redundant design. |

 |
| Review: |
I have had my Spyder Electra for about two years and I've had more than one or two problems. First thing I noticed was the barrel didn't come apart. Next I found out that the charger port dosn't work very well. I put air in it for the first time and it leaked in the inside of the gun, the drop forward, and through the center of the guage. After getting my air system fixed in my gun I had to get a new bolt put in because my stock one started tearing up the inside of the gun. Now though for about a year now I haven't had a problem with it. With the stock barrel also it's not very accurate but if you need to lay down a ot of paint this is the gun for that. The gun does have some good qualities about it to. It is very, very fast. It has semi, 3 and 6 burst, plus full auto. You can shoot about 12-15 balls a second. The gun by itself isn't very heavy. And the gun looks cool. |
 |
| Conclusion: |
It is a nice gun and very fast gun for a beginer or a more experienced player. Over all I would consider another gun just because of the problems I had with mine. |

Spyder Imagine--- my own personal gun, for the price and features there is no better.
Spyder Xtra--- only tested, a crappy gun chops terribly
Spyder Electra---- used occasionally, not bad has a bad feel to it, hard to explain
Spyder Shutter--- mile long trigger pull, chops
Tippmann Pro Carbine---- Crap!!!! I hate this gun!!! |
 |
| Marker Setup: |
2003 Spyder Imagine
14in. Smart Parts Teardrop barrel
Halo B w/ rip
Shocktech Trigger
50g micro switch (1/5 of stock!!!)
12oz co2
|
 |
Recommended Upgrades: |
Definitely an electric hopper (Revy or ReLoader do the trick)
New barrel, but you can live off the stock, unlike most stock Spyder barrels
UPDATE:
I recently played a round with this marker with nely added nitro on it, HOLY COW!!!! soooooo much more accurate and better |
 |
 |
 |
 |
| Strengths: |
Easy to read and operate electronics
Decent intermediate gun |
 |
| Weaknesses: |
Too expensive for performance
Inaccurate probably the bolt's fault----Nitro really helps
|
 |
| Review: |
THE BAD
This is my friend's marker, he bought it used online for about $200, when he got it in the mail we went to the local I&I, to buy all the goodies for it. $200 later he could now shoot his marker in his backyard for fun, with a 20oz tank, JT Spectra mask, and Revy. In his backyard the Electra DX was ridiculously inaccurate, had a pretty long trigger pull, and shot pretty slow; this was when I was an uber n00b, and thought that was okay, after researching paintball, studying the game, and finally owning a marker of my own (Spyder Imagine), did i realize that this gun is pretty bad for its price. On a side note this marker eats batteries like I eat steak (20 minutes and a 16oz sirloin is gone).
UPDATE: (in bold)
In terms of the inaccuracy, my friend has a 14inch and 18 inch Boomstick, now there is no way in hell you can blame a marker's inaccuracy on a Boomstick, so it's probably the bolt's fault.
So far my friend has put about $675 into this marker, compared to my Spyder Imagine which I have spent about $315 on total, and which performs just as well.
THE GOOD
It is very easy to adjust ROF and burst modes
It's side cocking
Very nice with Nitro
|
 |
| Conclusion: |
An okay marker, if you want an electric marker get an Imagine, if you have to have 6 -shot burst get a Fenix for about the same price, or for a little more get a Fenix ACS. It's too much money and too inaccurate for it's overall performance, but it can occasionally get the job done.
With the newly added nitro tank to my friends marker this marker along with my Imagine are just awesome especially considering that they are Spyders
BTW all updates in this review are in BOLD. |
